I don't know. I'm used to Mustangs and strats, and compared to those two guitars my JM is heavy. But anyway, the weight of the bass makes it very comfortable to play.

I forgot to say that theres no humming or any other unwanted noise from the pickups 8)

I can understand having a kurt style one available for those who want them, but from the models released over the past few years (hardtail hh, blacktop, classic player hh) they seem to really think thats what people want
Looking at some friends buying guitars, I think humbuckers are generally preferred to due their association with 'guitar heroes' (Slash, Jimmy Page)... But on the other hand, also Les Pauls are preferred then. I think that Fender's trend with putting humbuckers everywhere might be due to fighting over market share with Gibson - they don't really make single coil guitars so Fender is in relatively safe position to expand their market..
Just want to chime in about the popularity of humbuckers. I think it has a lot to do with a few things.

1. humbuckers generally sounding better than single coils on poorly shielded cheap guitars.
2. humbuckers generally being more friendly with crappy/cheap amps
3. the association with 'guitar heroes' you mentioned.

I am thinking trying to sell/trade my crappy xaviere and my decent epiphone faded sg for one of the feista red jags. I think it'll be nice with a black pickguard and white gfs jazzmaster pickups, and later with the trem mod.

If I do all that, I'll bring me down to just two guitars. My avri jag and then my modded squire jag.

Since cheaper tube amps have become more popular too a lot of people turn to higher output pickups to drive their HT-5s and Tiny Terrors harder.
