Re: Which Rat....?????
I've got an Arc Effects Soothsayer, and it's probably my most used drive pedal. It's got some tweaking functions with internal dip switches, and honestly, I haven't gotten a bad sound out of it yet. If it's that close to standard RAT's, I don't think you can go wrong with one.

Re: Which Rat....?????
There's no such thing as a 'Reuss' mod
You must be thinking of the Ruetz mod:

I will be releasing a Rat (and Klon) based two-in-one pedal this fall, though, with a switchable mod. But not the Ruetz

Oh shit my mistake and my apologies!
Yes, it's the Ruetz mod that sucks.
Two in one rat+klon sounds very interesting!

Re: Which Rat....?????
That's killer looking! They should totally do a whole series of different colored RAT's. I'd love to see an orange one. And purple.

Re: Which Rat....?????
looks nicer than my rusted to hell one that some of the type has fallen off of but mine is one of those distortion from heaven pedals
I used to be cool, now I just complain about prices.

Re: Which Rat....?????
I have a Whiteface RI with the 308 and it sounds pretty good, but I've also heard Rat 2s that I like just as much, so I'll definitely agree that the OG chip's not the be-all end-all.
Also I think Fuzzrocious's offerings are worth a look, as well as the Caroline Wave Cannon. I always thought the latter was based on a Rat, but it turns out it's just the MK1 (MK2 based on a Shredmaster).

Launching it at the Copenhagen Guitar Show this weekend. Ships from November 1st. It's called the 'Swiss Army Knife'. There's 33 pedals in the first batch:

Re: Which Rat....?????
I remember talking to a guy designing the fat rat (on here?) and they were thinking of using germanium/mosfet, but it does look like mosfet.
I do prefer the BYOC mouse, but you need to actually build it.
It has the original chip, and i prefer the other clipping options: assymetrical, germanium/mosfet (that may have been my own design), LEDs (without the other mods that are in the turbo rat) etc. But some are better for different things, i had a mooer black secret, which is modified to buffer the signal into the rat, and it was pretty good as standard, tight, heavy distortion a lot fatter and tighter but lacked some character.

Re: Which Rat....?????
I wondered about that one, it was similar to the custom rat I built, and i didn't feel like building another! its very cheap.s_mcsleazy wrote: ↑Thu Sep 20, 2018 9:54 amalso, unpopular opinion but i have a little bear r.attack on my 2nd board and it's really good for the £25 i spent on it

The 1981 DRV pedal is on my wish list. It's based on the Rat pedal from what I understand.
Demos look great.

Re: Which Rat....?????
Anyone ever try a Rat with bass? I heard a Coldplay song from the first album the other day (Sparks maybe) and thought that Guy's bass sounded incredible. I looked it up and I think he used a Rat on the first album, but I've never tried a real Rat before, and not on bass either.

Re: Which Rat....?????
Back in the 90s I would say that a lot of “FurzBasz” was created with a Rat. Occasionally a Boss HM-2 or a Sovtek Big Muff, but yeah, mostly it was a Rat.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 19, 2019 8:09 pmAnyone ever try a Rat with bass?
