Doom - if space and hearing loss weren't an issue I'd love to have a wall of stacks and a SG. I'd need a costume different from Sunn O))) Druid deals - maybe purple velvet wizard robes. Or go full Monks and get tonsured.
It's just not a satisfying sound at reasonable volumes/via modeling to me.

It would probably be bass in a neo-soul/r&B group, thinking "Voodoo" era D'angelo. Pino Palladino's playing is forever inspiring.
Or I could go with playing guitar in a peruvian cumbia/chicha band like Los Shapis or Los Destellos. Enrique Delgado's playing is great>

A motown/big band thing or surf probably. I do like an indie rock/ noise / shoegaze thing most of the time but I've always wanted to do a Motown type of thing.
I used to be cool, now I just complain about prices.

Stax for me, but yeah totally. I would love to get my Duck Dunn on.
I’ve spent way too many years playing for people standing in the back of the room with their arms crossed.

Right? I've been in and out of touring or serious bands since 1992 and I'm all set with the arms crossed crowd.marqueemoon wrote: ↑Mon Sep 19, 2022 2:26 pmStax for me, but yeah totally. I would love to get my Duck Dunn on.

I'm sure that when you guys make it out to shows you never cross your arms right?
I tap my foot along sometimes.
In my band of yore it was basic weenie indie rock, but I dabbled. We had a "metal" song, a "country" song, and a spaghetti western song.
So my answer is atmospheric synth wave.

Truth, I can't wait to annoy my fellow crypsters with my antiquated riffery and feigned carefree-isms

I play psychedelic space rock in my current band. We haven't had a lot of gigs yet but I feel I will see a lot of arms crossed (or cross armed?) dudes stolidly nodding their heads in utter rock and roll ecstasy. For almost 10 years I played bass in sort of a drum&bass band and it sure was nice to see people actually moving. Now I would absolutely love to play bass while constantly shaking my ass in a big old school afro beat band with lots of percussion and horns. We would exclusively play at festivals and open airs of course.

idk modern post-minimal or cinematic classical ambient playing gigs in weird places where people aren't even standing with their arms crossed nodding but sitting or lying down (which is better, more suitable)

I've always had a soft spot for that '20s/'30s hot jazz that flapper girls would Charleston to, and songs from that era with a vocal refrain sandwiched between an instrumental intro and outro. Maybe some sort of Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band/Singing Detective hybrid. I'd take the vocalist spot, as I don't really have the chops for much else.
I envisage plenty of crossed arms, depending on the venue, mind you.
