Some shoegazing goodness that deserves to be discussed here.

Woah. Talk about early MBV influenced!!
You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

oldy mcphogersons like me will note that Archie from Velocity Girl clearly produced this record, I have it and like half of it, some of it is just too "TWEE" for me to swallow
I used to be cool, now I just complain about prices.

I was discussing this record with a drummer/producer friend the other day.
We agreed that it sounded way too much like early MBV to enjoy and that it seems like Pitchfork is being run by people who don't know the history of the musical styles they're reviewing if they're that flipped out over this record.
But we're a pair of old codgers who hate fun, so take all that with appropriate amounts of salt.
Even though you can't expect to defeat the absurdity of the world, you must make that attempt. That's morality, that's religion. That's art. That's life.

old codgers only like minor chords and spaced out stoner jams

I'm a sucker for bands who continue a sound I love.. only so many times you can listen to that same album, I like a fresh take. I love minor chords and spaced out jams too though, hmmm... why the fuck can't we old codgers have both?

A true old codger strikes down that which has been done too well in the past, it would be like a new version of new order getting big, makes no sense.
We only seek to marginalize all that we used to love.

stoner rock and minor chords rule -- oops i just fell and i can't get up!
I'm glad there are a lot of guitar players pursuing technique as diligently as they possibly can, it leaves this whole other area open to people like me.

I like it a lot. Reminds me of the Field Mice, but not so hopelessly wimpy.
