For guitars of the straight waisted variety (or reverse offset).

Best bass guitar for lead singers?

Post by stevejamsecono » Tue Nov 10, 2009 6:42 am

My friend and I were discussing this at length, and I was wondering what you, the viewers at home think about this topic.

What's the best bass guitar for someone who is also the lead singer of a band? (seeing as the Telecaster is nearly universally accepted as one of the best guitars for lead singers)

I was arguing in favor of something short scale that'd be easier to get a handle on, but he seemed to think The Mighty P-Bass was as good as it got, which is a pretty fair point.

Thoughts?

Nobody cares about bass man.

HA HA!

I would consider an eb-0. Short scale, not too complicated.

true that. NOBODY likes the bass player.

there's sadness in that chord structure.
P or J bass I'd say. Short Scales are for moonlighting guitarists.

The best bass ever is the G&L L-2000, so that'd be my choice.

Depends on the music being played, I think, but I've always preferred either a Mustang bass or an EB-3 with a Rivoli or an EB-2 very close seconds to either of the others.

A '67 Epiphone Rivoli...

It depends: whatever bass you are most comfortable playing.

The G&L sb-2, 80s models, are great basses too.
