I'm not cursing. I recently acquired some of Dougs Witch-hats & ended up buying some similar black ones from GPR (delivered within 7 days of ordering so no horror stories like the ones I've read).
As some of you already knew I'd put Chrome Barrel-Knobs on my JM. I actually bought the white witch-hats for a possible project I had in mind.
After putting them on the JM it gave me the urge to buy the black ones.
What do you folks think? Chrome, black or white? As I've said before I don't like the standard Strat knobs. Also, if I'd thought about it more at the time I'd have bought some Jaguar knobs to try out too.
The black ones are growing on me.

Anything but the chrome barrel knobs... Sorry, they look cheesy on such a nice guitar! I'd say white witch hats...

If those witch hats were antique white they would be fantastic. Anyone know how they take to the coffee trick?

I'd say white witch hats, but aged to match the pup covers

It appears that I am going against the grain here (

), but I would go with the chrome Telecaster knobs. I think they look right at home.

It's too bad you can't stand the looks of the Strat knobs, because they are the only ones that would fit perfectly here, IMO.... But then, choosing between those three options only, I'd vote for the Telecaster knobs all the way!

I thought so, too on that vintage. It wasn't one of the options he wanted, so I didn't want to give my unsolicited opinion. I'm glad someone brought it up!

They take coffee very well! I turned a set of those off-white in a few minutes, beige in an hour and tan in a week!
They're originals, I think the older plastics were more porous than modern vinyls or PVC.

Interesting comments. I had the white ones in mind until I saw the difference in hue. Its a shame they aren't aged. I had this same issue with the original repro trem-tip but changing it for an aged repro & now it looks fine.
I think the white ones are gonna go on a different guitar (hell, I've got another pair if I change my mind). I guess its a stand off between the black & the chrome. Chromes still winning at the moment....just!

Woh, Doug. Really? Thats good news (you posted as I was typing) That white trem tip I was talking about was in a glass of coffee for a week & it just kept rubbing off. Useless. I'm glad I bought two pairs now.
One pair are gonna be my guinnea pigs!!

Go Black dude.
Or if you can get them old looking,go white.I think white would be good on your 3tsb as its already got a heap of black and aged hats would go with the pups and break the colors up.
I'm boiling water as i type,I'll try the coffee cause mine are really white as well.
We''l see how it goes.

Age the white witch hats, then use them. The coffee trick sounds great (might try it myself!).
The black knobs just look weird with the aged pickup covers. Unlike others, I don't think the chrome knobs look too bad.

Well, done it. and they are duller but thats it,i also scuffed them a bit with volcanic soil and sand thats around here.
They look a little better but not much.
I'm to lazy to bother trying a week in coffee so meh screw it.
