Gibson ES Series hard cases.....

Post by PorkyPrimeCut » Sat Jan 12, 2008 11:35 am

The ES-125T I've just bought comes with the original case but its a pretty flimsy old carboard-lined one.

I'm looking into buying a better wood-lined case.

There's an ES-175 Hard case on ebay going cheap but I don't know if it would be suitable.

Does anyone know if the ES-175 case is the same as the ES Series Hard Case (that is suitable for 335's, 330's & 125's)?

You'd have to stuff about an inch and a half of something in the case under the body to give it any support at all. I think I'd pass and hold out for one that fits. Besides, you've got that thin sexy guitar and the 175 case is kind of a big clunker.
Bigger in sum than parts.

Hehehe. I just looked at some 175's. They're deep bodied guitars aren't they!!  ::)  Doh!!  ::)

Ooh yeah - that 125 needs a thinline case.  Congrats, BTW! :D

Thanks.

I've got my eye on this.......

Image

Its a 70's case. It looks OK from the pictures. I've tried asking for better close ups but the guy's playing dumb. Doesn't know how to post or email bigger ones. Mmmmmmm.

Apparently the clasps & hinges are a bit "tarnished". If that means rust I'll look elsewhere. Otherwise I'll probably get it.

He lives fairly local so I can pick it up & avoid 15-20 quid postage. Its going for £60 at the moment. 2 days left.

Looks like a pretty nice case. If it fits, that's good. As for the tarnished clasps and hinges I'm sure that just means the gold-colour of it is has just changed a bit and thats it, no rust. If they don't work or whatever, you can always change them out fairly easily, I'm sure.
