Re: So who is playing Gretsch guitars?
I've had a Duo Jet G6128T-DSV since around 2012. I broke the fixed Bigsby arm, which gets very skinny right before it meets the spring assembly, so that's been updated to a heavier arm. I replaced the Synchromatic bridge with a less fussy Compton.
I've really enjoyed it during the time I've had it, and it's started getting more play time recently in a new project where my Les Paul didn't sound quite right. I have 11-gauge flatwounds on the Jet and it sounds just right. The other guitarist plays a Tele, and the two sound great together!

Re: So who is playing Gretsch guitars?
I have three Electromatics:
G5420T in Aspen Green - possibly my favourite out of my guitars:
G5238T Pro Jet in gold - I was constantly playing my bandmate's black Pro Jet when I was round at his, so when I saw this one second-hand for a decent price, I grabbed it. Love the neck on it.
G5238T Pro Jet in Black, with Bigsby B3. This is the black Pro Jet mentioned above - my bandmate traded it for my Revelation electric 12-string, which he gave to his wife as an anniversary present. Not sure if I really need two pretty much identical guitars, but until I figure it out, this one's in DAGDAD, the other is in standard.

I had a modded Electromatic for a while. Great guitar. Traded it for my Secret Agent amp.

Re: So who is playing Gretsch guitars?
Thanks! The Tennessean is actually my favourite sounding guitar out of the lot, I bought it back when I had bugger all money and the only reason I could afford it was because of a seized truss rod. Luckily some oil and some extreme heat got it working though. I must admit the fact that it's just barely Baldwin-era annoys me slightly, I may replace it with an older one if the opportunity arises.shadowplay wrote: ↑Fri Feb 08, 2019 12:54 pmThese are great, love the Tennessean. I desire a single cut painted holes Country Gentleman pretty badly ever since I saw one in that Tony Bacon book, I often think of boiling down my newer ones down into one with a bit of cash in the end. Like this but the one in Ultimate Guitars is even nicer.
Argh...need
Can't wait to see your new one.

A single cut Country Gent would be a lovely thing to have if you can find one in decent shape. They seem to be pretty rare, the only one I've ever seen was on ebay and must have been a very early one as the pickup surrounds had no grooves, but the guy was totally delusional about its value and it hung around unsold forever. I constantly checked back to see if he had lowered the price to something even vaguely reasonable, but nope. Your 6120 looks excellent by the way, the finish is a dead ringer for a vintage one, good job with the de-Setzerisation too!

The Clipper is long gone, but the Chet Atkins will never leave. It's a '60 6119 and is without a doubt one of the absolute best guitars I've ever owned. I need to get some decent photos of it one day.
