It looks like The Thurston Group picked a few up recently:

Played one today. Not good at being a Jazzmaster, and not very good at being a modern Jazzmaster-shaped-object either. Gets a big ol’ nope from me.

Maybe. It sounded really bland and lifeless. Lacked complexity.BoringPostcards wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2019 6:10 amWhat sucked about it? Another look at the new noiseless pickup design ...

His first JM .... 'pickups sound like garbage, lifeless and dead' ... also compared to PV65s in Jazz Tele.

As soon as he pulled out the pickups and turned one on its side I knew this one was dead in the water. I do like that mocha finish though.

The PV65's sounded way better.timtam wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2020 10:32 pmAnother look at the new noiseless pickup design ...

The video is good at going into depth on the guitar.
Likes:
- The heel at the neck looks to be a good design.
The selector switch is in the correct location.
Input jack on the side makes a lot of sense to me.
Fender's modern necks are very nice.
Sensible bridge
- Pickups sound pretty beige.
Switching system is overly complicated and cumbersome.
The position of the input jack is in the wrong place. A bit more thought could have been put into this!

Any more experiences with the new Ultra. Still think it looks great, but still haven't been able to try one...!

Re: Fender American Ultra Jazzmaster
New to the forum. I just posted in the introduction section but I thought I would chime in on the Ultra Jazzmaster as well because I picked one up back in November.
I had been looking at Jazzmasters for quite some time and really liked the extra features that the Ultra line offered. I have been playing for years, mostly Les Pauls, Strats and Teles but I am a total newbie to Jazzmasters so my opinions may reflect that...but here goes:
The "D" shaped neck, compound radius and body contours make it very comfortable to play.
I like the "out of phase" circuit and find myself using it often.
The extra tone knob (Master Volume-Neck Tone-Bridge Tone) is a good thing for me, being able to dial back the bridge helps quite a bit for some of what I like to play.
The noiseless pickups are nice, maybe a little darker than a standard Jazzmaster pickup but they have a lot of character and sound really good to my ears.
The Mocha Burst color is absolutely gorgeous.

Seems to have been an increase in this lately.
The 'report this post' button is your friend - have reported this one for you so the modmins can clean it up and ban the spambot.

NO_Camping 4U and andy_tchp ...was there some weird link attached in my Post??
I did try to attach a photo before I realized I didn’t have permissions yet but deleted the link (or so I thought).
Not trying to derail this thread but I apologize if I caused anybody any issues.

BUMP.
These seem to have almost disappeared from consciousness. Does anyone have any more opinions on these, or are they just destined to be a forgotten model line?
I ask because one has popped up locally, I might go and have a look. The Mocha burst really speaks to me!
