It just got here! Soon as I get comfortable on it, I'll record a clip!

Re: NGD: Powers Electric Type-A
As a purely acoustic instrument, the Powers type A is a very impressive guitar. The neck, which has a funky ass compound radius that isn’t really like anything except for maybe my Rick Kelly, Bowery Pine Tele is really comfy to play and is a great plank of wood.
However, as an electric instrument, it’s utterly useless. The pick ups are impressive and sound fantastic. But, the pots are the cheapest possible on/off type arrangement you could find on a guitar, this side of a Harley fucking Benton. Utterly worthless. And to think I traded away two of my most prized guitars forthis Bozo show.
Fuck you, Andy Powers.

Re: NGD: Powers Electric Type-A
It's a shame that an expensive guitar would've been built with substandard switches and pots, but if you like the guitar pickups and the way it sounds acoustically, are you considering just swapping the electronics? Maybe you could get a refund, at least to cover a local tech to upgrade the guts aside from the pickups...

I’m going to bitch to The Music Zoo and have them send me some Emerson pots. If nothing else.

That sucks Maggie. Hopefully you get a decent response from the store/manufacturer & they sort that out pronto.

Last night I told my Mikey that it was like getting a Merc and having to stop it with the handbrake from a Trabi!sal paradise wrote: ↑Wed Nov 15, 2023 9:29 amThat sucks Maggie. Hopefully you get a decent response from the store/manufacturer & they sort that out pronto.

Oh no, I was very excited when I saw these come out, so this is quite disappointing. At the price these guitars sell for there should be zero flaws.
Hopefully an easy fix and you fall in love with the guitar after!

Re: NGD: Powers Electric Type-A
I found my easy fix! A squirt of contact cleaner, and then twisting the knobs for a couple of minutes, and damn, the pots are fine now!mediocreplayer wrote: ↑Wed Nov 15, 2023 2:27 pmOh no, I was very excited when I saw these come out, so this is quite disappointing. So, I've been able to play it a bit more, and it's pretty major. Reminds me a bit of a Casino or 339. You know, hollowbody/single coil thing.
