Identify this guitar?
This is from a Superchunk performance on Conan O'Brien in 1994. Jim Wilbur, the guitar player on stage left, is playing something kinda Rickenbacker shaped with a six on the side headstock. Any ideas on the make?

It ALMOST looks like a Hondo / Fame headstock, but I'm coming up short on finding anything that looks like it. Seeing Jim without his Les Paul Studio is just weird though. It's like seeing Santa without a beard.

Out of curiosity I tried finding something... It's almost like photographers avoided Superchunk in the '90s.

Re: Identify this guitar?
I did a screen shot of the guitar from Tony's pic. Used that to do a reverse image search in google images. That still gave me a bunch of junk, so I adjusted the search box to just cover the guitar body. After doing that, it was one of the top results shown.

Derail: I consider myself a relatively intelligent person, and I’ve used a computer, but even now I’m looking right at google and don’t know how to do a reverse image search. Please share that knowledge.

Re: Identify this guitar?
So, first you go to google images
Click that middle icon, between the microphone and magnifying glass
Then you can either drag'n'drop, or upload an image, or link to an image from a webpage.
As a sample, I did a search, using a pic of my incoming Ibanez, from the reverb listing. In this case, the first result is a match.
If I adjust the search window to only search the vibrato, I get a bunch of floyd rose vibratos on orange guitar pictures.
FWIW, I've been trying to work on my website, and I can neither receive email, or access my domain at the moment.

It is incredibly useful when you come across one of those "amazing" deals on Cragislist/Reverb/whatever. Take a few of the pictures and reverse image search them...you'll find the listing they were stolen from.

HOLY SMOKES! I knew about the reverse image search and figured this would be a bit too difficult and maybe we'd solve it the old fashioned way. Magic. Thanks!

That’s a really cool guitar. Reminds me a bit of those Dano mongrels Subway Guitars was doing way back when.

Honestly, I didn't even try it because I figured it would just give me a ton of Rickenbacker results. I was seemingly wrong!Dr Tony Balls wrote: ↑Sat Feb 03, 2024 5:03 amHOLY SMOKES!
