Vegas's '64 Jaguar TLC
Well here it is, the famous Jaguar that was played on one of my favorite records... it's also in their video.
I figured I'd post it here as its own thread since the other was really more about Monsterland...
I'd like to check the dates, originality and worth of this thing and discuss what I should do to get it back to playing condition.
neck plate#: L35481
neck heel stamp: 1 SEPT 64 B
vol. pot code: 70-2125 0240 1MEG AUD 304-6408
There is pretty bad fret wear and it needs a MAJOR setup... also it needs new foam (mute and PUs) plus maybe a better jack (switchcraft).
The tuners and pots are a little crunchy...
I would like to have this fixed up for October 30th. Greg is lending it to a band for CMJ then us on the weekend (Nov. 4th).
Any thoughts folks?

I can't get to it from work but I'll do it as soon as I get home this evening. It's going to be a little late though... hope that 's not a problem.TheMilford wrote: Thanks Jay... I sent them to your offsetguitars address.

I think you might have to be logged in to Yahoo to see them .. so they don't work as embedded images?TheMilford wrote: I keep trying... I used yahoo photos to post... what am I doing wrong?

Re: Vegas's '64 Jaguar TLC
From reading your description, other then a refret (which should include a proper setup) it only needs a little cleaning up really. There's quite a bit of gunk around the trem plate and some other bits. Really really cool guitar though. Wish I had it.

Re: Vegas's '64 Jaguar TLC
It looks legit to me but I'm no expert. I'd defer to Doug or some others... The only thing I see that may be questionable is the trem part that the strings run through looks extrememly clean (no crud or pitting) compared to the rest of the trem. Looks as though that piece may have been replaced. As for the rest, all the stuff I can see looks right but without pulling the rest of the guitar apart though, it's impossible to say. You need a knob too I guess.
Edit... it seems a bit suprising to see single line klusons on a guitar this late but I don't think that says anything other then they still had some around mixed in with newer double lines.

It looks great to me as well! Dates, codes, stamps all line up. Clay dots... staggered poles... the Klusons look right. Logo is correct and in great shape. Bridge is vintage. Pickguard is vintage, even the neck shim looks right. I'd say it's legit and in reasonably good condition.
Very nice. '64 has always been my favorite year of Jag. Still has the early 60s innocence, plus the staggered poles (first year). Last full year of pre-CBS. I like it!
Your guy is gonna flip, how cool.
EDIT: Nothing wrong with single-lines on the '64, Jay.. but as you say, it was probably the last of them. That's kinda late for clay dots as well...
