Hmmm, not many (I've never seen one) '64s with maple boards. Did you check the neck heel stamp? Doesn't look like a 64 at all to me-guard's an earlier (50s) style and the saddles are brass (again 50s). Wonder if yo have something worth a lot more?! What I can see looks cool!
yah sadly you cant read the stamp on it thou i dunno even the serial number is about imposible to read
they just said it was around that year

That' s worth pulling apart for sure. Pot dates? Body date? The maple neck is interesting for sure!

That is a 22 fret neck, which wouldn't be a '64

. Plus there wasn't a maple cap option at that time. It has a skunk stripe and a plug at the top as well, which would point to a '50s model, with the exception of that extra fret. Have you ever had it off to see if it is maked at the heel with a brand or anything?

I don't know of any vintage Teles w/22 frets. Hmm-I wasn't counting! Good eye. I think maple boards were made on rare occasions in '65 (memory might be fuzzy, but wasn't Buck Owens' sparkle Tele a 65?). A mystery...
