Thanks loads for the comments, everyone.

Yeah, the colour is a long way from CFM now - when Owen saw it before I polished it up he described it as Land Rover Green, which is pretty accurate. You have to look really closely to see the flake.

I'm really enjoying playing it. Still tweaking the set-up a bit. I've ended up shimming the neck a little with a couple of slivers of old shielding brass, and loosening the truss rod a touch. Plus tonight I finished off dropping the nut slots right down as far as I dare. I don't like doing it in one go - I prefer to play it for a night or two before daring to finish off. Done now.

Mark, Rob - thanks again for your comments here and in the MOTORIK II thread. You know you're both welcome to come over any time and play these things. No-one else has seen or played them yet, so it would be great to get another take on them. Re the Silvertone, Rob - I'm easy either way. If you want to come over and pick it up that's cool, or I can hold on to it until you decide what you want me to do about repairing the neck/converting to XII. If you want me to risk the binding and have a go at fixing the rod I'm happy to just tinker with it slowly. I haven't taken tools to it yet...

Ben, this and the Motorik II builds have been incredibly inspiring! I CAN'T wait to move somewhere, where I can actually have a space to KEEP power-tools let alone use them...Great work mate!

I just had the pleasure to meet Ben and his family and play his guitars, he lives not far at all from my home turf in East London. It was really cool to see and play gutiars I've only so far seen on the screen. While all three of the guitars he has at home right now (the two Motoriks and the Buick II) are fantastic instruments, the charcoal frost JM just has something special about it. It's truly a great guitar, beautifully built, resonant, full of great sounds. I would love to buy the guitar off of Ben but I don't think I'd feel right depriving him of his number one instrument. I didn't want to stop playing it! ;D

The Motoriks are also great, the green one looks very cool but I would have to say I preferred the white one and with all the gubbins inside of it the guitar is capable of some truly unique sounds - the tremolo circuit sounds especially good.

Ben is a real gentleman and it was a pleasure to spend some time at his place chatting and playing his guitars.

Cheers B, really good to have you round and to have someone else see what I've been up to. And great to see you connecting with the fruits of my labour! We'll have to see what we can do with the guts of the white one for you...
