Zhivago, Do you wrap the strings over the top of the tailpiece on all your Les Pauls with the TOM bridge and Stop Bar Tailpiece? Billy Gibbons had the right idea, you get the tone of a Stop Bar bridge and the intonation to boot. I was at the Spartanburg, SC guitar show a few weeks ago and saw the sacred 1 Million $$$ plus Peter Green/Gary Moore LP. It is The Holy Grail to The Les PaulNuts. I'm not into LPs that much but I can appreciate the historical relevance, heck I don't even remeber the color because I was occupied with finding Supro, National, Airline stuff.zhivago wrote: I can't blame you....after the '54 Les Paul Custom look they are also my favourites

But the tone is much better than with tuneomatic and if you need an adjustable bridge you can replace it with a Pigtail or TonePros (which still sound better than the tuneomatic/stoptail combo).mezcalhead wrote: Not to knock anyone's choice of guitar, but I always think the wraparound bridges make the guitar look a little unbalanced, so much room aft of the bridge .. plus I can never get my head around a bridge on an electric which doesn't allow for individual string intonation.

hey there, unfortunately none of the Les Pauls I posted are mine...they are all vintage pieces beyond my reachBryherb wrote:Zhivago, Do you wrap the strings over the top of the tailpiece on all your Les Pauls with the TOM bridge and Stop Bar Tailpiece? Ah, I didn't know there were aftermarket intonatable wraparound bridges .. it was the idea of not having individual string intonation I couldn't cope with.GUITARmole wrote: But the tone is much better than with tuneomatic and if you need an adjustable bridge you can replace it with a Pigtail or TonePros (which still sound better than the tuneomatic/stoptail combo).

Yeah - the Leo Quan Badass bridge has been around for quite some time ('70s?), but I believe they enjoy a less-than-stellar reputation with regard to tone.mezcalhead wrote:Ah, I didn't know there were aftermarket intonatable wraparound bridges .. it was the idea of not having individual string intonation I couldn't cope with.GUITARmole wrote: But the tone is much better than with tuneomatic and if you need an adjustable bridge you can replace it with a Pigtail or TonePros (which still sound better than the tuneomatic/stoptail combo).

I believe the Badass is chrome plated brass and weighs a ton.flatfiver wrote: Yeah - the Leo Quan Badass bridge has been around for quite some time ('70s?), but I believe they enjoy a less-than-stellar reputation with regard to tone.
On the other hand, the Pigtail is lightweight aluminum (like the original wraparounds) and would probably IMPROVE the tone if you are replacing a brass or pot-metal non-intonatable wraparound!
