As the header says:
I'm having a hard time deciding what colour to go with on my Strat project. It's going to be a 1966 replica so it has to be a correct colour for that year
It's going to have a maple cap neck so bare that in mind....
Shoot!

Sonic Blue and sunburst. Not really crazy about anything else.

Olympic White with white or mint green guard or Black with a white or mint green guard. Preferably maple for both but I can handle rosewood. CBS headstocks please! Well-worn too...

I'd have to go with poo brown non-metallic.
No, pink paisley!

Sonic Blue with rosewood and mint guard, Olympic white with maple is good, mint or white guard, but I'd prefer rosewood/mint pg.
Did they offer maple cap necks in '66? Pardon my ignorance.

I'm not a fan of strats (that's why I dwell here...), but I once owned a black on black strat (black pupcovers too) wich looked OK - I changed it a while to tort on black - creme/aged white covers and put a P90 in the bridge pos - also looked OK - but still only OK. (It had a rosewood fretboard - a all maple neck would have been cooler with the black on black IMO).
I do like banana-pudding yellow 70's big headstock all maple necked strats - with three bolt micro-tilt necks, though... so that's my vote:
Black & "Banana pudding" Yellow (other).
Someone knows where I can find the nearest woodchipper to throw my pieces of junk into?

Hey,
I'm having a hard time picking a colour out for this one, and it's probably because it's not really a pretty guitar model. I mean to pick a fabulous colour for a Jazz or Jag, it's simple. But for a strat it's really, really hard..

So then - Tort on black to go with that maple neck! (I think 66 is too early for black guard, but i dunno as I'm not that of a strat guy)
...did that make it easier?

correct custom colours for 1966 are:
Lake Placid Blue metallic
Olympic White
Fiesta Red
Dakota Red
Blue Ice metallic
Firemist Silver metallic
Firemist Gold metallic
Charcoal Frost metallic
Ocean Turquoise metallic
Teal Green metallic
Black
Sonic Blue
Shell Pink
Foam Green
Have you not seen a full list or did you cull the colours already to the limited number you have provided?
I would choose Foam Green or Sonic Blue
relaxing alternative to doing actual work ...
