I'm starting to figure out that "less is more"! Talk some sense into me!!!

a big +1 on less is more...I love going guitar > overdive > amp

in general, I am growing more and more tired with all the stuff involved with playing electric guitar...amps, tubes, various short cables, long cables,cables from head to speaker, speaker impedances, step down transformers (ok that one is self-inflicted!:D), pedals, tuners, power supplies that don't fit certain effects, different polarities...things going wrong....one day I know for sure I'll quit playing electric guitar....

....what I love the most is just playing acoustic guitar...doesn't get much simpler than that: Guitar, just apply fingers!

I'll just go fingerstyle and do away with plectrums, and tune by ear

I know exactly what you mean, Yannis - for a couple of weeks there all I had was my acoustic guitar and mandolin, and I really enjoyed it - I really improved my fingerstyle technique, too. I started missing my Jazzmaster though, and had to bring it back down to the house. I guess I'll just never be happy!

yeah Chris...it's nice to have the eletric too when I feel like rockin' out a bit.

I just find it to be more the guitar I play when I need to be in a band...

the acoustic...I dunno man...I tend to sing and write music on it all the time...the electric is more of a band-tool...if that makes sense...

Yeah, I totally agree with you on that one. I haven't been playing much electric in bands recently (although I've recently started jamming with some friends with the view to forming another band) and the acoustic just seems so much more immediate - there's no messing around with amps or cables or setting or anything, I just take it out of the case and it sounds great!

Strat Pick up's DO FIT in a Jazzmaster under the JM covers. I know since a played a JM for a while with that combo (some used STD US Strat pups middle and Bridge) before purchasing some aftermarket JM pups. Just put some 250K pots in it and a 047 Pfu cap on the treble pot and that was it. Sounded pretty decent. Still a JM, but a tad different. I even adored the sound of this so much that I later on bought a set of Custom made Jag/Strat alike pu's for one of my JM's. Still with 250K and 047pfu cap. It' my main JM now. Other JM has a set of SD ant II or AVRI's in it (depending the mood i'm in)

hard to discribe the JM with the strat pups, it's just different, although still JM sounding. It's more pronounced in a way, and a strat or Jag alike sound is always arround imo. I tried this JM with a Echo unit last week and it gave me the exact "Shadows" alike sounds. Pretty weird....Did I already say I love theis JM?
