Re: Baritone Jones!
Looks like a Burns Barracuda, which is E-E normally I think. Sounds E-E too, to me at least...

God, that sounds cool....

I've wanted a Bass VI forever....Damn. Now I really want one. The Bass VI head count thread and this one have clinched it. I'm officially GASing now.

Heh, yeah - i did the rash thing this weekend and got me a jag baritone custom
it's E-E, but that'll be changing as soon as i figure out how to get a decent set of B-B strings.

Just get a 7-string set and ditch the high string. This is the cheapest method I've found. Many of the "baritone" sets are priced way too high. (Oh, and keep the high E's if you play guitar and break them all the time).Stratelejazzuar wrote: Heh, yeah - i did the rash thing this weekend and got me a jag baritone custom

Re: Baritone Jones!
thanks for the info - i was concerned about the string issue - and the store i bought the jag-bar from called me today to say that d'addario was backordered on baritone strings for a month :-\DB wrote:Just get a 7-string set and ditch the high string. however, i did some research just 30 min ago to find that you're absolutely right about the 7-string set - the only difference is the low B - it's .059 on a 7 set and .062 on a baritone set.

so i think my big cat jag-bar is gonna get some new strings come thursday

Re: Baritone Jones!
Cool. I'd like to try a heavier set (actually heavy bottom light top) on my Jag bari, but the lighter gauge force me to play with a lighter touch, which in my case is a good thing. Let us know how the Bari thing progresses with you.

Re: Baritone Jones!
Lately, I've also got a severe baritone jones GAS attack.
The Custom Shop Bass VI is way out of my price range for such a specialized instrument, and the Gretsch Spectra Sonic C-Melody baritone comes right after it in price. I toyed with the idea of building my own Bass VI for a while, but ultimately I decided it's not worth the trouble.
After that, the other Gretsch Electromatic Jet baritone, Schecter Hellcat VI, and Burns Barracuda are all about the same price at $450-$550. Right now I'm leaning toward the Schecter, but I'd get the Burns if I could only find an American dealer.
