IF you declare your purchase to customs, you have to pay tax on the balance above $800. On a US$1749 guitar, that is CAD1905 today. So PST and GST on $1105= $165.75 here in Quebec. And if you brought back booze with you, it too has exceeded your allowance and you have to pay tax on it.....
Yup, i've done it once or twice on big ticket items NY to QC----

There is no duty on any USA or MIM guitar. It is subject to PST and GST, but you can get around that using a personal exemption if you've been in the USA for 48 hours. You could also get someone to bring it back for you if they've been down for 48 hours.
I didn't pay any tax. I'll pm you the story. It was pretty funny.
True. You
may have to pay for any amount in excess of $800, but a lot of agents wont bother. In my experience most agents aren't concerned with the amount you're bringing back - especially if you've been down for longer than 48 hours. Alcohol and tobacco are what they're most concerned with.
The other caveat here is that you can double the exemption if you're with family or your wife/gf. They always ask for the
total amount of goods per car.

I've exceeded my allowance twice or three times, and each time the agents invited me in for a little question period.
They even went online to the stores and asked why i had a better price on my invoice than on the website.
"Ah... it was a last year's model?"
Maybe Canada Customs are bigger dicks here than they are over in BC.
My job takes me through twice a month for 12 years- i've dealt with customs a lot!
And true, having a wife in the car helps

Everyplace I have called in the last two weeks either has no idea about it or has already sold out their order. I am on the waiting list at 4 different stores..... It appears that the dealers started taking orders and deposits immediately after the dealer show.

it is official ....
http://www.fender.com/guitars/jaguar/jo ... -metallic/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
i was thinking that they would wait for right after labor day, to avoid the sales. and i heard that a few shops just received their Fender fall deliveries, but seemed to be waiting to put them out and wouldn't say what was in the delivery.

Looks like bananas music might have one. They're showing avail online. Good luck!

Bananasmusic says the US allocation is only 50. The four they are expecting are already spoken for. I called Wildwood and The Music Zoo today...neither had heard of it but quickly checked with their Fender reps and notified me that they were all gone and they could not get one. So, it looks like this may be pretty difficult. Good luck to those who have already reserved, and please let me/us know if you find one out in the wild somewhere.
I think it's safe to say it's been a success so far, so maybe Fender will make more?

PSA: just spoke to Dave himself at Dave's Guitar Shop and put down a deposit. He said they pre-ordered four and I'm pretty sure I was the first to reserve one (but they had been seeing a lot of interest in it today). So, it sounds like there are a few more still available if anyone is looking.

So let me get this straight:
Fender may have pre-sold 4 times as many Sherwood green Jaguars than the number of Candy Apple Red TS Jaguars that they produced in total.
Is this a testament to Johnny Marr, Sherwood Green, or a combination of both?
All I can say is I hope they produce just a few more for the people that really want one.

I think it is the power of sherwood! Fender is in the business to make money. I don't believe they will limit this to only 200 if they are pretty much sold already. I think they had no idea the interest in this and are generally clueless of the desire for different color options. Maybe this will open their eyes a bit?
