Out of the box the finish on mine was perfect too. The neck has a hint of tasty looking flame going on and if it dings up so be it. I had a long look at Johnny's when he played Bexhill recently and it was pretty obviously beat up. However if I can get anywhere near his sound I'll care not a jot. I'm so enamoured of it I ended up buying a 68 Custom Deluxe Reverb at the weekend after selling a load of kit on eBay recently. All I need now is a pink shirt, a capo and some talent!

I bought a KO jag from someone who did the same, haha.

the later pages of this thread have me SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING grabbing the credit card and heading straight to my local guy and bringing home the green one they have hanging on the wall. it's such a great guitar in both looks and playability. do i need 3 jags? why the f*ck not.

do i need a happy wife/marriage/roof-over-my-head? probably.....

Just an observation:

Some have complained about the MAP pricing on the Sherwood green version, i.e. the ltd ed./number of guitars have made it impossible to get any kind of discount. Well, as much as I acknowledge that, I recently came across the re-launched Dave Grohl signature guitar, the Gibson DG-335. In metallic gold, MAPs $3700. In Pelham Blue, which I gather is the colour that he's associated with when it comes to this guitar model, MAP's $7000. Ltd. ed. of 200 units. That paint's pretty expensive :-D

Btw. it's the exact same guitar. First run many moons ago was pelham blue and black.

Yeah read about that in a monster long thread on TGP. Gibson is crazy for re-intro'ing a previously limited edition model in the same color. Probably why they are asking $7k for it., and only half for the new color. I recently saw the original Pelham Blue sell for $12k. But I don't think a manufacturer should price the reissue based on market value, to seemingly protect those with the original run. They should have released a different color instead. Would sort of bum me out if I had the original Pelham Blue, not so much because of the market value, but because it was stated by the manufacturer that it would be a limited run of 200 (or maybe it was 250.)
Admittedly, I picked up a Sherwood JM right away partially because it is said to be limited, and I didn't want to pay higher prices if, no when when I gassed for one later. No regrets after having received and played it for some time now. And I wouldnt particularly care if there are more on the market than is initially rumored, because it's an amazing guitar in a effin amazing color. But because Fender has already stated it's a ltd color, then I'd be disappointed in the brand if more were made available at a later time. Fender, don't pull a Gibson.

They are still taking pre-orders for the Suregood Green @ CME and shipping in December, so, they are still out there.
I don't work for CME, just letting people with GAS know.

Split delivery? 2 Different manufacturing runs?

I am surprised that CME's order was delayed since they were pretty much the flagship for the model in the US.

I've been watching UK stock and whilst Fender are low, the stores (eg the bigger stores) aren't shifting them as fast as I thought.

Perhaps its the wrong time of the year!

EDIT - I've been back in touch with the store and although they were going to keep the Sherwood Green for stock because they thinks its a good one, they have also allowed me to use their 15% off Black Friday discount on it. A brand new guitar that has just come in. So by waiting a few days, I've got an incredible deal on a new Johnny Marr.

Despite my worry that QC might not be 100% and i'll want to keep it immaculate, at this price I just can't resist.

They also have a white Johnny Marr Jaguar. PM me if you want to know where and they will give you 15% off this weekend in the UK.

Enjoy your Marrguars...the tone and style of those guitars is top notch.
