Really sorry to hear about the cosmetic issues that are present on your guitar. Did you get it from Chicago Music Exchange? You could call and just let whoever you purchased it from know about it. You never know, they might for some reason have been holding onto one or know someone else who has one in stock to swap it out for you. The finishes do seem delicate on these- you can almost scratch it by looking at it. And I actually spoke with Fender last week about some unrelated questions and was curious if they were going to make anymore Sherwood Green JM Jags- so I asked them. The guy had to do some digging in his system but did see a note for another order/ batch of them in April- May-ish. But he said anything could change between now and then- and it may or may not happen. But seeing the demand being so great on these- I don't see why they wouldn't do another batch.

Thanks, tetramine, I have let CME know about this (haven't heard back yet). Played around with the guitar last night and I'm generally really happy with it. Don't suppose Fender could do a spot finish repair under warranty? Failing that, what have people been doing for their own repairs of these flakes? (having read this thread pretty thoroughly, I knew that people had been having similar issues) Is there a spot-on nail polish match that could be finessed into a pretty convincing match? (as a cyclist, I'm used to using nail polish for frame touch-up)

On the positive - since it's on the bottom edge, you'll never see it while playing. And I love that sherwood green.

Actually you make a great point. Fender could absolutely fix that for you. I purchased a brand new Strat several years ago that was damaged in transit (huge dent down on the lower bout around where you have the paint chip) And they fixed it for free and you cannot tell AT ALL where they did the repair. Your best bet is to send it back if you want to go that route and want it done right :-)

You did the right thing by initially going through CME- and having them document it in their system right away. CME might even handle the dealings of the warranty work through Fender if you decide to have it repaired.

CME got back to me promptly. Offered me their last sherwood green, or a little money back to compensate. I'm going to keep this one, since I think it's a good one. And sometimes it's better to just get over that first ding and play the thing, rather than dreading it.

My Oly white marr jag has a few dings which I'm not too fussed about.

But the thing I don't get about all these Sherwood green ones with knocks is how/why are the stores shipping them like that? They must look at them when they've arrived from fender...also why are fender shipping them like that too?

You make a great point- However, my Sherwood Green came from Chicago Music Exchange and I could tell that CME did not open the box when it arrived from Fender. They simply took the shipping box (with guitar still sealed inside) and put it in one of their shipping boxes and sent it out the door. Mine arrived fine without any damage. And it wouldn't be likely Fender would let it out of the door like that. I would just speculate that his chip must have happened in transit (inside the case from a hard hit or something like that.) Especially if the chip was in an area where the body presses up against the case padding. This has happened to me before with a Fender Strat and was damaged because of mishandling in shipping and the case not having enough padding.

Pretty classy of them. The guitar looks beautiful. Have fun playing!

With NAMM a few weeks away, do you think another color will be introduced for the Marrguar this year? I think a version of JM's black/tortoise jag with the leaf decals would be simply dandy to see. I was a bit bummed to have missed him on the recent tour because of the cancellations, but maybe more reason for him to reschedule for 2015 and a new color on his sig guitar...

That would be really neat to see that. It's definitely a guitar worth having more color variations on. I have always been a Les Paul guy.. but I'm rethinking that :-) it's hard for me to put this Jag down!

Got my SG Marrguar this evening. NO finish issues and the playability is excellent.

This past week was a double NGD for me as a 91 Gibson LP Studio was picked up for a song.

Loving these guitars!

I am actually really shocked to hear this. They are one of my favorite stores and I have gotten a few guitars from them. Every single one of them came set up great and came with a full checklist that was filled out and signed by the employee who did the final check/setup.

What size string gauge are you guys using on your JM's? I was told it came with 10's so that is what I am using... I am getting a little fret buzz on a few of my strings. Had to raise the action way too high to get it to stop. Have any of you had to adjust the neck to maybe give it more relief to keep the action low? Thanks for your help!

Try shimming the neck - maybe this will help with fret buzz - i would hope the neck is straght. Do you live somewhere where someone can set it up to your liking?
