Just curious...should I be worried about the frets getting worn out by the capo...the JMJ is only 2 weeks old...or should I just get a new capo?

You are talking about the fretboard not the frets correct? I see a bit of discoloration in the photo but have no idea if that is actual "wear" or not. My gut would say it's just the material on the capo drying out the wood at that section. Oil it up a bit and see if it goes away.

Re: Johnny Marr Sig Jaguar
It's probably attributable to the shadow, but it looks like you might have the capo on a bit tighter than it needs to be. I also use Shubbs and I've found that if you keep the pressure just a pinch of above what is needed to keep the strings snug against the fret, the rubber part will stay just clear of the fretboard and won't wear out your frets too quickly. A little oil doesn't hurt, either.

Yes the fretboard, sorry about that...thats what I thought as well. This is my first new guitar in over 25 years, had a 86 Fender Tele' before this one which I gave to my son after the wife gave me the ok
. the capo is about 20 years old, so probably in need of a new one.

Nah, all you need is a new sleeve, and Shubb sells them quite cheap.ramz wrote:the capo is about 20 years old, so probably in need of a new one.

DON'T leave the capo on the guitar when you're not using it. The rubber can damage a nitro finish when in contact for an extended period.
It does depend on the rubber composition and it won't affect a poly finish, though, but it's worth knowing... same goes for yer guitar stands.
