I saw johnny a week or so ago in holmfirth, uk, a tiny gig. He was on fire, his green jag was the one he used on 90% of the songs. Sounded amazing too.
So want one in Sherwood green now.

I missed out on tickets, great venue and I'm only 20 minutes over the hill. I saw Johnny's guest spot with Noel Gallagher a few weeks back though. I notice that Noel's guitar player in now using a Sherwood JM jag too.JazzmasterJonny wrote:I saw johnny a week or so ago in holmfirth, uk, a tiny gig. It was an awesome gig, love the picturedrome! I noticed Noel's guitar player had a Sherwood jag too, and a nice looking jazzmaster too. I would consider getting a real StayTrem to fix the string spacing and a polished steel switch tip from staytrem. It's the finishing touch in my mind, I can't stand the plastic one. Steel one is cold to the touch and

Nope. It's got the bushings so the height stays put, and it was designed by the same guy, but not a full on staytrem bridge.biro wrote:isn't the marr already equipped with a real staytrem bridge stock?!egosheep wrote:I would consider getting a real StayTrem to fix the string spacing

Re: Johnny Marr Sig Jaguar
On my Marr the saddles were kind of roughed in with a crude V shape. On the Staytrem the saddles are cast into a nice smooth U shape for each string. And the string spacing being wrong is perhaps the only "mar" on an otherwise perfect guitar.mackerelmint wrote:Nope. Re: Johnny Marr Sig Jaguar
I have to say, that gold pick guard looks really good on a white Jag. I ended up putting a tort guard on mine to give it that traditional old Jag look. I think a mint green on white would also look great though.
I've had my Johnny Marr Jag for a few months now, and of the 9 electric guitars that I own, it has become the ONLY guitar that I play. I developed my first tiny chip in the paint though. Don't know if that is a sign of things to come or not. From reports from others, paint chipping is common on this model. I'd rather it didn't happen but I'm not going to worry about it if it does.
A couple of weekends ago I played a two day gig with this Jag and had volume issues. The volume would cut out or fade and then come back only to cut out again. The guitar had been giving me volume problems on and off for awhile but this became a serious issue playing live. I had to go to a back up guitar to finish out the day.
After later opening it up to check for any obvious problems I discovered that the input jack which has two connection nibs was only wired to one of them. A check of a schematic diagram of the Marr Jag showed that there SHOULD be a ground attached to the 2nd nib. It had obviously had a wire connected at one time because there was solder and a fragment of wire still attached and there was a blob of solder on the body where it once must have been connected. I bought this Jag used and it evidently came to me like this because I certainly did not un-wire anything. At any rate, I re-wired the jack post to ground it and my volume problems appear to be cured. I have not had any issues since. It has been restored to being my number one!
