This is going to convince eBay hogs that they can now fairly charge 1400 bucks for a Japanese Jag/JM.

I only just found out about this, but earlier this week I e-mailed Ishibashi about buying a Mustang (one with a maple fretboard that you can't buy here unless you go vintage) and they sent me a reply (probably on tuesday 11/7 or wednesday11/8) saying that they had one ready to ship to me. And they knew that I was in the US.

Back at the old place (FDP) I encouraged many aussies who posted threads at how expensive fender product was in australia to consider purchasing offsets and other fender guitars from ebay or finding a US dealer who will ship to australia "under the table" or finding a friend who lives in the US to buy it and then ship it.  The reason ....  an AV offset that can be purcahsed for US$1400 (or cheaper) new in the USA will cost US$2800 - US$3200 in Australia  (if you can get it anyway).

Then suddenly after about 5 or 6 of these postings on the FDP, the son of the Fender Australia franchise owner (who obviously works for Fender Australia) sends me a personal email basically asking me to stop tellling every one to buy over seas  .... haha!!!

Then a couple of months later in response to my  comment that you can't find AV jags or JM in australia anyway, I get an email letting me know that CIJ jags and JMs are now available in Australia , at about 2x the cost of what we can buy them from Japan directly anbyway.  again I say Haha!!!

franchise companies like fender australia are not the Fender that we all think exists in the USA .  They are a franchise and as such purchase their product from where they are told to purchase it.  Fender USA doesn't give a damn if proces of fender product in Australia are high for example, they just care that they sell their product and take an extra cut of the profit via the franchise agreement.

Whereas Fender Japan are a manufacturer and as such sell what they produce, less $$$ go back to Fender USA if they sell their product to australia, the USA, europe , where ever...

it's all down to the $$$
It's exactly the same thing in France, an AVRI Jazzmaster coast 2800$ in France!!! CIJ models are expansive too (1100$) and the choice is poor (only sunburst and USB color)
It's a sin, buy in Japan was the only way to obtain a great Jazzmaster or Jaguar...

if the prices are that bad in France maybe you should check out this site: www.musicstore.com, it's a big musicstore in Köln with some pretty reasonable prices (640 euro's for a new CIJ JM, 1555 for a AVRI JM & 628 for a CIJ Jag, 1666 for a AVRI Jag).

I'm thinking maybe it's just on their site so they don't get their asses busted. What can Fender do to stop them? I'm sure Ishibashi sell heaps of stuff for them.
