looking for a daring amp repairman in germany

Post by fuzzking » Wed Jan 16, 2008 1:39 am

A friend of mine bought this:

It's a 35 W Gretsch 6160 Chet Atkins, and all it produces is hiss.
He contacted the only repairman here in our area, who said he'll never
touch a Gretsch amp again, although he has the schematics.

Anyone in GER who knows someone who could help out?

My guess is they're are simply a huge PITA to work on due to what looks like a separate chassis for the pre/power amp sections and potential rats nest of point to point wiring.

Dirk Baldringer in Leverkusen - www.baldringer.de
Tube Amp Doctor in Worms - www.tubeampdoctor.de
Uli Kurtinat in Köln - www.ulis.com (don't know if he repairs amps, but he's a kind of legend in servicing old guitars)

AFAIK you have to contact Tube Amp Doctor via your local dealer... they're good, they repaired my old Super Champ combo.
