They talk about the new series toward the end.
I still wouldn't buy a US Standard Strat or Tele...

When I played live, my strat came to shows without a case and came home in a shopping bag.. didnt want to lose any pieces.. hahaRumorsOFsurF wrote: I don't like the modern style Fenders much, anyway.
They've taken all the original Custom Colors out of the lineup, too. They are coming with ugly-ass SKB cases, too.![]()

Yeah I loved how they old footage of Leo just had him with an offset.. espeically since they weren't even talking about thembulrich wrote: Did anyone see the old footage of Leo with someone playing one of the first Jazzmaster Prototypes? Black pups, strat trem and tele-ish guard. About 3/4 in. Also sitting on his shop bench.
I think this guitar is also the same one in a picture in 'Fender the Sound Heard Around the World' book.
I wish there was a Standard Jazzmaster or Jag! BTW, the HWY1 Teles come in that color, too. At least those are nitro.do not be afraid wrote:what about a US Standard Jazzmaster/Jaguar/Mustang/whatever? probably not, right? i was with you until i saw this:RumorsOFsurF wrote:I still wouldn't buy a US Standard Strat or Tele...![]()
and i just couldn't stop looking! i don't know why… all of the other colors, and the Stratocasters, do nothing for me, but i need that Telecaster! yes, it would be better with an ashtray bridge, slotted tuning pegs, etc, but, still…
i don't really mind the idea of an “updated” version of these old guitars, but it's just not for me — i love them for their quirks and “flaws”, not depsite them! and, besides, Leo himself did a better job of updating them at G&L, anyways!
I just can't see those being put together like big macs..RumorsOFsurF wrote:

well, i like the idea myself, until i start thinking about the “improvements” and “upgrades” they'll use to “perfect” [ruin] them!RumorsOFsurF wrote:I wish there was a Standard Jazzmaster or Jag!
they don't have a black pickguard! yes, i know those can be changed insanely easy, but it's that particular picture that gets me drooling! i might just get the Highway 1 and swap the pickgaurd, though… hmm…RumorsOFsurF wrote:the HWY1 Teles come in that color, too. At least those are nitro.
Yeah say good-bye to the tremolo... and say hello to Strat Pups.. or even better humdingers..do not be afraid wrote:

That's what I thought. His Fenders are so modified, that you wouldn't think Fender would want to include him. Like someone else pointed out, he refers to a Tele Deluxe, the least Tele-like one of the bunch.Sauerkraut wrote: Lee Ranaldo's appearance in that video doesn't make any sense.![]()
You notice it's a thinnner undercoat? So that means the top coats are still going to be a mile thick and like plastic. Yeah, those have to be the ugliest cases ever.'Thinner body undercoat lets the body breathe and improves resonance', is that just a lame excuse to cut expenses? And those cases are monstrosities.
+1 on all counts. As far as the Tele bridge goes, Fender has the 50+ Blooz and Cuntry guys in mind for these things. :-XI do like those new saddles on the Strat though, because they're really just the old ones, but they should have reintroduced brass saddles and an ashtray bridge to the Tele.
