+1  I don't like the Standard MIA Teles much,  but I really like the AVRI '52s, and I'd love to have an AVRI '62 Custom.
I think I need to give some other strats a go
I just spend most of my time in guitar shops in the recording section and recently acsoutics sections..
I don't care so much about $trats.  I was referring to Teles. ;)  I'd probably take a '62 AVRI Strat if it was cheap, but it's not something I need to have.

Im starting to dig the 50's surf green or daphne blue strats, or maybe a natural with black PG one.  My friend just got the eric johnson signature in sunburst, he switched the pickguard to american gold anodized...hands down the best strat i have ever played.

We've so hijacked this thread!  ;D ;D

It's turned from a Gibson thread, to a Fender thread... ::)

I wonder if they will do a firebird faded.  I could get into that, and epiphone has done like 12 versions of it already.

well, getting back on topic...

I went up to some music stores in the Nashua, NH area last night, and was poking around with some guitars. I'll admit I have a bit of a bias, I happen to really like the Faded Series Gibson stuff. I like how the finish feels on them (the poly feels better on Fenders to me, faded suits the gibson "block o' wood" thing imo), and they make some nice affordable wood chunks with p90s in 'em, so I've always had an interest.
This particular day I happened to get to try out some of the Faded Studio Mahogany guitars, and I have to say, I was pretty impressed. Normally I am really not much of an LP person (too heavy, awkward body shape for me, I like Specials better), or a humbucker person (too warm for my tastes usually) but I was really having a good time with this one. The weight and feel were pretty good, and it was definetly a fun play. Probably coud use a decent setup on it, but then again, what guitar couldn't right out of the store?
Seeing as I'm in the market for a Gibson-ish guitar right now, it's definetly added to the list :)

I'd take a 57 RI strat if I could get one cheap, those are nice! (for a strat)
