anybody that has some of these: take some pics! home taken pics always show more how the guitars actually look than the stock store ones.

I gotta say for a budget friendly guitar, the black mustang looks pretty awesome. Like i would get that for my kid if they wanted it.

Can anyone confirm that the red deluxe JM really IS a rebranded JMJM, as in EXACT same specs?

I love my Mascis, having it in red with tort guard, and white covers etc, would be even better!

At NAMM, I overheard a Fender rep tell a store owner it was a JM Jazzmaster without the JM name. It most definitely looked like it too. I didn't see a price.

I did a little work on my new Bullet Mustang today. Now I will build another pickguard loaded with single coils using a nicer tortie pg. The one I used today was a $7.50 cheapie. These are a lot of fun.

This Bullet Series Mustang also had the pale white maple neck and headstock when it was purchased.
It now has a kiwi tinted neck, new tuners, pickguard and string trees.
The stock tuners were fine and held tune really well. The bridge is a top loader hardtail very similar to the Squier '51s from 2005. The pickups sound really good to me, good enough that I will keep them in a guitar and not in a drawer which is what I expected. The Basswood body has a swimming pool route making it a great modding platform.

The bullet Mustang is only $199 CAD. That takes it from being fugly to being a good bunch of parts/modding platform.

The red Jazzmaster with the gold guard is $609 CAD.

I see.

I've seen a few of the Mascis Squiers find their way into the hands of people who wouldn't be into Dinosaur Jr, so I could see a rebranding of them being a smart move. The only indication it's a signature is the squiggle on the back anyway. If anything, the JMJM and now these are a Squier version of the Classic Players.

As I say, that being the case, add a tort guard (The gold suited the white version more than it does CAR), and I could be VERY happy with these!

Yeah, the black Bullet Mustang has definitely become more appealing now - especially since I found out that it's 24" scale. Is the bridge the string-through the body kind? If not, you could easily make a Belinda-stang.

Yes! I guess that means you could put a standard Mustang trem on it, too, then.

With the appropriate skills one could. I wouldn't recommend it. I think you'd be better off just buying a Squier VM Mustang.

Here's a Mustang body -
