Electro Harmonix Microphones
So im a big fan of their effects. But how good are their mics? they seem pretty posh, but i cant really find much infomation except for this PDF
http://www.ehx.com/instructions/EH%20Mi ... _Dec05.pdf
Does anyone have any experience of them? i was looking predominately at the EH-C2, i think it's £145 at hotrox; worth the money?

Re: Electro Harmonix Microphones
I've never tried them.. but they look interesting..
I know this is probably off-topic, but check out this
company http://www.cascademicrophones.com/casca ... 0HEAD.html
I bought two Fat-heads from them (special deal) for $300
Their fantastic! Their really useful for guitar cabs and speakers
I use em in ORTF pattern for drum fronts and they excel..
Also, they perform exceedingly well on clarinets, woodwinds, brass, etc.
Also, check out Blue microphones, they make some cheap mics, but their really cool.

Re: Electro Harmonix Microphones
i didn't know EH was making mics, but i guess now that they have a pre amp and compressor in line, it makes sense...Groove Tubes has been doing it for a while. they look like the Oktava mics, which makes sense with the Russian connections they have. if that's the case they should be pretty decent for the price.
"Also, check out Blue microphones, they make some cheap mics, but their really cool." well, they make a $300 mic at the low end, but most of their line is $1200-3000! but they are very cool...the Mouse and Kiwi are very nice. I have a Fathead too and I really like it for certain things, wish I had gone for the pair, but a ribbon is quite a bit different from a condenser in both form and function.

Re: Electro Harmonix Microphones
My understanding is they are just rebranded version of the stock Chinese mics they churn out of factories over there. See the similarity between the EHX line and the Nady line of mics.

Yeah, we had a Blue Kiwi in University, and it was a really nice mic. I used it for vocals a lot of the time, very clear but not a whole lot of low-end from it IIRC.fuzzjunkie wrote: i didn't know EH was making mics, but i guess now that they have a pre amp and compressor in line, it makes sense...Groove Tubes has been doing it for a while. they look like the Oktava mics, which makes sense with the Russian connections they have. if that's the case they should be pretty decent for the price.

Oh, thanks, im not really after a mic at the moment. And to be honest i don't really know too much about this area - I was more just curious to see what people thought of the EHX mics.
I just record direct for now, and when i get a mic it'll probably be a SM57 or similar - nothing too fancy.
