Someone knows where I can find the nearest woodchipper to throw my pieces of junk into?

Can't wait to see it completed, and hopefully photographed in some sun so we can see what it really looks like! seems work shops aren't the brightest places, who knew  :D

IBM is my favourite colour on a JM. Especially with a Matching Headstock  :?

Oh, i'm liking the stripe as well. They seem rather unfashionable around here.

Stunning work - very nicely done!  The stripe, which I usually don't like on any guitar, looks perfect on your JM.

Sorry about your experience w/Steve at Angela.  I guess I kind of knew he could be a bit, uh, 'grumpy' 20 years ago or so when I first heard of him and ran into him.  I know he has always gotten a lot of 'tire kickers' and time wasters, so he has a pretty short fuse about some things.  Fortunately, I've always been on the good side of things somehow!

In the interest of news, I've been forcing myself to take my time. I could get this thing strung up tonight and playing, but I'm not going to rush it, get strings on it, and have setup issues which I'm too lazy to fix until the next string change.

The neck plate, nut and everything are in, but the roller knobs aren't.

So I'm going to take this time to make sure I get my fret dress done right (I'm also gonna do one on my Tele, which I never did), buff the lacquer on my neck, and put those roller knobs on.

Besides, it's Panthers vs. Canadiens tonight, and I've got nosebleed seats. :p

So, tonight was Level, Crown, and Polish night. I figured I'd do the Tele (which had yet to be done since the neck swap last year) at the same time, economies of scale and all that.

So I sidled up to the trusty Coffee Table O' Fretwork and went to town. I was surprised how quick it went once I taped it up. They only had 3 or 4 high frets each, and leveling was predictably quick and painless. The crowning was easy, too, since not much was taken off. Polishing was fairly painless, but messy, as I like to use 3-n-1 oil to lubricate my sandpaper (600, 1200, 2000), and then I got out the dremel to finish it off. The frets are now smooth and gleaming. It's beautiful.

Gaaa! Extreme Lemon Oil Sparkle! The little bits you see on the frets there is just a little dust and lint collected in the lemon oil. I'm telling you, they're the smoothest frets I've ever felt.

I've seen this before but never got round to asking about it.

It's what happens when you string it up and go

Actually it intonates perfectly and doesn't buzz so .. . . I was gonna leave it but i just realized I need to put the tubing around my bridge posts so I'll probably flip it then.

It actually makes it easier to intonate believe it or not.

Pictures are uploading. No daylight shots yet.

I think it's also better for getting less buzz out of the bridge as well.
