Small Polyphonic Synth

Really love the sounds of the Juno 106 for pads and string lines. Anything similar in a smaller package and maybe price point?

Yep, the little Modules are great. I've had the JX-03 which I really liked and I currently have the Sh-01a (also polyphonic). Those are good options.

The Korg Minologue is cool, too, but bigger.

Behringer Deepmind 6 should fit the bill. Analog, six voices, two DCOs, two LFOs, three EGs, endless modulation possibilities.

I own the Deepmind 12 and I love it, but I could have lived happily with the Deepmind 6.

Not really after the gritty synth stuff, but more in the vein of strings like that video at the 20 second mark or so. Also, there are some ridiculous used prices for the ones on reverb right now. Estimated price range is $250-325 and the cheapest one asking price is $520. While they may be nice, I would almost assume buying a legit 106 at that price point

Really pleased by both of those. My only concern is that it may be more than what I need. Also, how's the reliability of their keyboards? I had a behringer keyboard amp once and it basically messed up and developed a pretty bad his and loss of volume after only a few months. I still use it from time to time..but def suffered from quality control

I have no issues with the keyboard. I think the Deepmind is where Uli Behringer went all-in to show he could make someting great under the Behringer name - and still keep it affordable. It's a very impressive instrument.

The Juno 106 go for around $800-$1000 CAN up here, I assume they're much cheaper in the states? I would just go for the real thing, at that point. Just factor in, or ask before you buy (you can even check, by opening it up), that it might need repairs or replacement of chips.

And yeah, that string pad at the 20 second mark sounds great. The presets on those modules are great, some better than on the original. Very "Time After Time" by Cyndi Lauper.

They're loaded with cheese, but you can get great sounds out of them. If they had full-sized keys, I think more people would appreciate them. But for the $250 CAN they often go for? They're great! Lots of bands make great use out of them.

I stumbled upon the Roland Alpha Junos in the synth thread. Looks like one may fit the bill with features, sound, and price point.

I'd suggest the Korg Minilogue or the Roland JU module. It really does sound like a 106, but it might be a bit TOO small. For vintage, Alpha Junos are fantastic and hard to beat at that price point.

The Alpha Junos are great, but I miss the ability to make quite changes. When I bought my Juno, I factored in the price of a midi programmer, and instead just went for a Juno.

I know they are well respected but they have a habit of blowing the main CPU which is difficult to replace.
