Am I weird for liking this?
http://www.ibanez.co.jp/products/ag_pag ... eries_id=4
Saw it in a local shop on Saturday. It's an entry-level model and quite cheap. I barely play acoustics, but I'm tempted as there might be some point to owning an ac/el... Granted, if it didn't have those pretty colours I probably couldn't care less. I'm rather shallow that way.
Anyway, what do we think about this one?

That's quite nice looking for a new acoustic but how did it sound?

I expected to see something really
and now I want one... how much do they ask for them? How did it play and stuff?

Oddly enough, despite the fact that I had to wait in the shop for over an hour before they packed my keyboard and found my burstbucker, I never tried it. The GAS came later, after I had already left the shop.Jay wrote: That's quite nice looking for a new acoustic but how did it sound?
I don't really have a trained ear to hear what a good acoustic sounds like anyway. Sometimes I really like el-cheapo, all clangy treble, guitars. Other times I prefer a more rounded tone. With the exception of my Oscar Teller, my acoustics are all really crappy.

Price was € 189 including tax. I think it's a couple of €€ cheaper at Thomann. I didn't touch it, but there are a few reviews on HC (of its pick-up-less brother).FUZZ_KING wrote: how much do they ask for them? How did it play and stuff?

Hmm... more expensive at Thomann (205 for the one with pickup)... still looking for the "naked" version.

Odd. Can't find the reviews anymore, just one for an older 12-string model. Hmm...maybe it wasn't H-C but some online shop user reviews page....

I like it....it looks cool...one thing that turns me off about Jumbos is the sheer size...after 2-3 hours of constant playing they can be really uncomfortable...that's the reason I got rid of my Epiphone J200 in the end (I had it for a decade or so!)
of course, if you don't play for 2-3 hours straight, disregard my comment!

I rarely play guitar at home anyway
.
So THIS is a jumbo, eh? Is the difference between a jumbo and a dreadnought just the waist, or am I completely off now?

Re: Am I weird for liking this?
yeah that's a jumbo...the difference is the size.....and most (if not all) dreadnoughts have square shoulders too.
expect more bass from the jumbo....I really liked the sound of my old one
I'd like to pick up an old Gibson LG at some point to use for different tunings...it's even smaller than a dreadnought, so it should be nice for on-the-sofa playing...
here's one:

maybe I will find a beat-up 50s one when I go to the States this summer

I had an LG. It was pretty decent until my sister sat on it.

I know how you feel...when I was 15, my brother sat on one of my acoustics too

Re: Am I weird for liking this?
It all worked out all right in the end (at least for me). I had it repair and the guy did a shitty job of it; the top started to collapse again and the neck needed resetting because you couldn't play beyond the 12th fret without mad buzz. so I put it in my local auction expecting to get £200 for it and it sold for £900! People are mad sometimes.zhivago wrote:Jets wrote: I had an LG. It was pretty decent until my sister sat on it.
