Is there a specific nut for bound neck , or i just cut the edges of an existing nut ?

Standard nut - you can either file the bottom corners off and have it overhanging at the ends, or just chop the ends off so it sits completely in the binding.

Thanks . I have in my hands the neck that i ordered from www.flexguitars.com and im trying to install it .

FWIW: Fender used to do it the second way - completely inside the binding - no overhanging.

WOW! The bound large headstock neck with vintage frets and radius looks a killer. Heel truss nut too - no price on the site though....

The neck is excellent in my opinion and cost me 136 euro plus shipping 23 euro

That's the one on the Buick...Seller dropped his ebay site.

ahh. That's where I've seen it - I saved him as Favourite seller on the bay, but then he dissapeared - Bookmark time, I guess.

What's your opinion about the neck?

I'd love to tell you I've been playing mine non-stop since I finished the BuckMaster last week and it's great but...I haven't because I didn't.

The build quality on the neck is ok, not amazing. There's a thin line of filler between the binding and the maple on the top side of the heel on mine which is annoying because it will always be visible. Other than that the construction is good. The frets hadn't been leveled and dressed, so I've had to do that myself. No huge deal, and I'd be quite surprised if any neck at that price was perfectly level. It would certainly have been playable out of the box but I'm fussy. The headstock is a little shorter than the normal JM CBS I think - 185mm from the back of the nut to the end. The binding is only the depth of the fretboard - 4mm, so 1-2mm shallower than a vintage CBS neck. The dots aren't central to the binding because of this - they're almost touching the maple.

It feels quite fat to me, though the neck on my Klira is wafer thin so I don't have much to go on. Actually, holding it now it feels really nice.

Width:Thickness=
1st fret - 42.7:21.6
7th fret - 48:23
12th fret - 51.3:23.2

I'd go for an unfinished one if you can - the tinted nitro on mine was a little patchy and covered the binding - sanded off easily enough but you pay extra for the privilege.

I didn't expect anything spectacular from a neck that isn't from 1960 and reliced by years . The neck for me is fine in fact i like the accidental nitro spray on the binding . I find it much better from an all parts neck . But the most important for me was that it was in my hands in 4 days . When i install it i can tell you how it feels .
