New Aluminium Neck Jazzmaster Day
So it's been a long time coming but finally got this project finished up and put together there about two months back, the body and ingenious magnetic pickguard was put together by our very own Deed_Poll and the guitar was finished by Rexter who did a bang up job!
So on to the specs, it's a one-piece Mahogany body with a string through hardtail bridge, EMG 85 & 81 in the neck and bridge respectively , EGC bolt on Aluminum neck , in Burgundy Mist Metallic.
I love Active pickups but find the battery boxes can be quite ugly so I worked with Deed_Poll and we came up with the idea of using a removable magnetic upper pickguard where the rhythm circuit would normally be for easy access and aesthetic reasons.
The neck itself is fairly skinny but not overly so with jumbo frets and feels great in the hand, not at all cold as you might expect. I'm used to Aluminium necked guitars but I've never played an EGC neck so this is a serious step up in quality feel wise and comfort-wise while playing.
It sounds fantastic, it sustains for ages and is super lively. The thing resonates like crazy but it's very much in a controllable way, the EMG's are really defined and sound great clean or distorted. I play a lot clean stuff and the thing rings like a bell. It's not heavy at all and tuning stability is top notch. Also absolutely no neck dive at all which is a major plus!
Anywho here's pics!

Oh wow, like I told you before. I wish I had the money to buy it - and I was thinking to have it refinished in BMM. Now i'm even more jealous, that is one stunning guitar. I hope you keep it!
(Wait I see this is a different aluminium neck guitar, still soooo amazing)

Cheers! It took a huge amount of time to come together but it was well worth the wait!

Re: New Aluminium Neck Jazzmaster Day
Yeah. Kevin (EGC) asked if I’d be interested in doing one eventually. It’ll be an offset.

Holy crap dude that's nuts, glad I could be of some influence to your signature model! As long as I'm credited for the idea we're all square Think you could talk Kevin into giving me a ''friends'' discount?jnewton wrote: ↑Thu Nov 08, 2018 12:16 amYeah. That looks amazing. I love BMM finishes. I'm waiting my own aluminum bolt-on neck and this is just making me more antsy.

Cheers! I was on the fence for a while about it but I'm glad I went there in the end. Cool, what're your plans for it?redshirt87 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 09, 2018 7:03 amThat looks amazing. I love BMM finishes. I'm waiting my own aluminum bolt-on neck and this is just making me more antsy.

I'm part of the next batch of Robot Graves necks. I plan to put it on my SQJMJM, which has had all the Mascis taken out of it. Once I swap the neck the only original thing on it will be the strap buttons.X-Ray Spex wrote: ↑Sat Nov 10, 2018 8:07 amCheers! Oh cool, what's the neck thickness like on the Robot Graves stuff? I've had hands on experience with Kramers, Travis Beans, and now EGC but I haven't had a chance to check them out. What have you replaced all the Mascis stuff with?redshirt87 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 10, 2018 10:56 amI'm part of the next batch of Robot Graves necks.
