Considering that all the Dinosaur Jr albums are recorded with a Tele, it’s not as left-field as it seems.

Seems like there’s been mention on instagram about the Fender custom shop working on sparkle Teles for J. Can’t remember who, maybe one of the paint guys.

If there's going to be a J Mascis Telecaster I assume it would look something like that. Apparently he toured with a Squier thinline at some point, too.

Apparently he tends to do leads with a tele and rhythm with a p90 les paul.

Yeah. And to think of how many jazzmasters and Big Muffs have been sold to people chasing the Dino Jr tone when they needed to be buying Teles, Les Pauls and Tweed Twins.

Mascis is a good example of tone coming from the hands. I saw him play a Tele at Tym Guitars that he just took down off the wall when soundchecking for his Instore there and it just sounded like Mascis.

I should say: I know they took his blue tele to the custom shop to measure it, etc. I don’t know if MIM guitars get sparkle finishes. I got to play the original once. It’s amazing.
