It's been quite a mixed year for gigs, some not even by choice. Mainly because my wife wanted to go. So, here goes
The Who.
Thurston Moore.
The Spice Girls.
Manic Street Preachers.
The Waterboys.
Rod Stewart.
Tears for Fears.
And upcoming in October.
The Cult.

Re: the "whats on your concert list" thread
While I had a summer full of (playing) festivals (myself) I‘m really looking forward to a great autumn (both playing and going to concerts a lot)
First in line and most looking forward to:
(Thee) Oh Sees! For the first time! (Had tickets two times before - but Berlin and Hamburg were both too far and expensive to get there. This time they finally come back to Vienna!
Then: Cortney Barnett, José Gonzales (if we manage to get tickets)
Thurston Moore
And in November - after playing a few weekender shows abroad:
10000 Russos I organized the show myself... a 2-day Psych Fest kind of - for my 30th Birthday and also our official Vinyl Release in our hometown!

I saw the cult at Rockville in May. They were great, but Ian seemed to mail it in a little. Maybe because it was a festival and the weather was weird.Fendereedo wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2019 12:05 pmIt's been quite a mixed year for gigs, some not even by choice. I may see OMD this Friday, but a Hurricane Dorian may make Friday a prep day. I have my tix for King Diamond in November, which I have really looking forward to. I'm trying to make Melvins and Redd Kross work, but it's on a weird night for me to go out of town.
The biggest show for me is King Crimson at the end of September in Atlanta. I saw them back in 01 during the Belew and Gunn days. I have quite a few live records of the current lineup, so I know what to expect. It's going to be really interesting to hear how the three drummer frontline sounds in person.

Maybe an off day for Ian. I actually haven't seen them since around 1983 (Yep, I'm that old lol!). They were called Southern Death Cult then, sans Billy Duffy though. I read about Redd Kross getting back in the saddle again, so would love to see them again. The Melvins, I have seen in so, so long must be Reading in 1992. I've never seen King Crimson yet, but I was blown away when I saw Adrian Belew a few years back. Amazing guitarist and showman.RuffiansFC wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2019 4:50 amI saw the cult at Rockville in May. They were great, but Ian seemed to mail it in a little. I have since literally doing my list, found out that my wife went and bought 2 tickets for Madonna next year in London, I freaked when she told me how much (£250 per ticket), but it's done now. I hope she lives up to her reputation, but I hear she does a great show.
Take care
Steve

Saw Orville Peck last weekend. The guy is quite a showman, and they sounded excellent. First time in a long time I went to a show, and it was a lot of fun!

Re: the "whats on your concert list" thread
Seeing Blue October for the second time next weekend with this new woman. Even though I've known her for years, and music was one interest we both share, this will be our first proper concert together. Blue October puts on a REALLY good show.

Re: the "whats on your concert list" thread
I've just seen Steve Gunn solo at The Captain Cook in Dunedin with Robert Scott (The Clean/The Bats) opening. Must have been only 50 people there max. Other shows on tour have sold out, which is good.
I'm a big fan of Gunn's latest album. Wasn't sure how it would translate solo, but he's an incredible guitarist. Really blwon away with his talent. Quite a unique style too. If you ever get the chance...

Hi there, we were just talking about subsurface dwellers in houston not too long ago. Where did you see Orville peck? Also, agree with you on his unique sound and being a showman. Reminds me of Roy Orbison, echo &the bunnymen, Chris isaak, Kirin callinin, Timber timbre and just a pastiche of country in general. Great post, sir/ma’am!
