Re: Korina body suited for sunburst?
Haha, they might actually look pretty identical, depending on the individual bursts. I have a scot guard, too.

Re: Korina body suited for sunburst?
I have a bunch of RR nitro.
i can do it pretty old school.
we would DEFINITELY have to do a common thread with both projects! the two bodies are practically identical!
i am leaning heavily toward the Nomaster idea. with a black or gold alu guard.
let me know when the body arrives in Germany!!!

Re: musikraft korina jm body - now here: looking good!
picked it up at the post office on monday & was surprised how light it was - i actually feared the package might be empty. it weighs even less than the
swamp ash body i got from doug and put on the black jm. i didn't weigh it, but i'd say way less than 2 kilos. that wood is so soft, you can make a deep mark
with a fingernail easily. again, even softer than the swamp ash body. i don't like the grain structure, so i'll have it finished in shell pink, yay - that should go
well with the left over vintage tort guard that's been sitting around all the time. and since the guard is insanely shrunk, i'll have the body drilled to accept the
guard nicely.
the countours are very nice and they got the trem routing right! i mailed them several times and told them about that the back of the routing needed to be
sorted out before i'd buy one, and they wanted to borrow a trem from me for test-fitting. no way i'd send the trem i just imported from the US back to the US
when they're so close to the source!

wide, not to deep belly cut!

andrew-guard fits nicely, so, no extra routing necessary this time.

i have it in the apartment where i'm on the weekends, so i couldn't compare it 1:1 to my old jm, but the contours look real good & correct at first sight.
the other body i got (and returned immediately) from another manufacturer (whom i don't want to diss all the time) looked and felt wrong as soon as i opened the package.
i'd say go musikraft all the way!
happy happy!

That's great news - don't scrimp on the grain filler! Good to hear about companies wanting to get it right at last.

Someone knows where I can find the nearest woodchipper to throw my pieces of junk into?

yes. just as i thought. incredibly light. i think they said that one was 3 lbs. that's far less than 2 kilos. less than 1 and a half!
and very soft wood. i think i might have to hard finish mine to keep it from always getting nicks.
congrats. but... shell pink??
glad you like it- it looks a lot like my 1960....

I been kicking around the idea of getting a musikraft body and neck in a couple of months. I think you guys just pushed me over the edge.

it's modeled after a 60 (which forum member's body was it? i forgot...)mcjt wrote: congrats. but... shell pink??

but yes, shell pink. i have a black one, a firemist silver (or something in that vein), a comp.orange-like body i'm working on, and soon there will be a '59-style faded burst, so why not shell pink?
i had a good look at what finish i like most with vintage tort guards, and shellpink is one of my favorites. besides, i have an almost shellpink-like dano bass i really love. it's fun to make noise
with pink things, ha ha.
i got this one from one of their ebay auctions. steal! iirc, you still have a chunky jm neck from musicraft? or have you sold it?JazzBlaster wrote: I been kicking around the idea of getting a musikraft body and neck in a couple of months. I think you guys just pushed me over the edge.
