Re: Squier 2020 line
Can anyone with a white JMJM check and see if the pickup pole pieces screw in like these do? I have a hunch they are the same same pickups?

Yes, those are the JMJM / CPJM style pickups. Lots of people leave those pickups in whatever guitar they came stock in.

Re: Squier 2020 line
I actually finally got mine from sweetwater, that is to say I got my replacement. The first one they sent me last week had a huge chunk of paint breaking off from the body right on the side by the metal control plate. The replacement is a beaut, the parchment pearloid pickguard is really a nice unique touch, in my opinion. Soundwise, it's everything I wanted: varying degrees of jangle and warmth depending on the pickup engagements. I only wish they had put the little cyclone cartoon on the headstock, but one can't have everything.
edit: also, the stock pickups are really really expressive. I was disappointed when they initially announced these because they weren't going with the original jag pickups, but IMO the stock pickups they put in are keepers.

Also. why did they put the clunky shaped control plates on these when the Mustang bullet has the vintage correct one?

I was able to snag a pink CVJM. A Pink JM has been on my radar since seeing Florence and the Machine perform in SNL five years ago. The lead guitarist had a pink JM and I thought it looked amazing. I’ve been close to snagging a JM a few times but just never did. When this one came out, it was a no brainer.

Got my Squier Cabronita Thinline today. The fretwork puts my recent MIMs to shame, and I like the plugged in tone. The tuners are rubbish though. The buttons wiggle around on their posts. I usually put locking tuners on my guitars, but since this is such a light body, I thought heavier tuners might introduce neck dive. I might see if the store will replace them.

Re: Squier 2020 line
Is it vintage-style tuners or more modern? If the former, the Gotoh vintage lockers are pretty light - the top-lockers are barely lighter than a non-locking one, and the thumbwheel ones are only a little heavier. If they're modern, the Hipshot open-gear tuners are very light, and so are the Sperzel ones.Fredescu wrote: ↑Fri Oct 02, 2020 9:07 pmGot my Squier Cabronita Thinline today. Vintage style, with the interlocking rectangles on the back. I do have a couple of sets on Gotoh vintage thumbwheel tuners (SD91 MGT I think?) on other guitars, but I've never actually weighed them. I just assumed they'd be heavier. That's interesting that it's only a marginal difference. Maybe I'll get some for this guitar, since everything else is great. Even the pickup switch, which I didn't expect.

Re: Squier 2020 line
Maybe an oz or two, and I haven't weighed them either, but my thumbwheel ones are close enough to the Fender split-posts that came stock on my Vintera Mustang that I can only feel the difference with my left hand (a bit more sensitive to weight changes with that hand), and even then it's tiny. I'd imagine that even with a semi-hollow, it's not even a matter of getting a wider strap, just putting on a cotton instead of synthetic shirt or whatever.Fredescu wrote: ↑Fri Oct 02, 2020 10:27 pmVintage style, with the interlocking rectangles on the back. I’ve been impressed with mine. I think it may need to have the nut attended to but overall it’s been less clunky than the MIM Standard it replaced. And the reddish tort on pink is pretty to look at.Acidhouse wrote: ↑Sat Sep 26, 2020 8:19 pmI was able to snag a pink CVJM.
