Lots of Bassman love here. Can’t say I miss mine much. Too much clean headroom.

That's fair, depends on the kind of music you play. I for one definitely love that headroom because I play shoegaze and doom metal so a crapton of pedals haha. However, I definitely prefer the mid 60's black Bassmans over the 50s tweeds and early 60s blondes.marqueemoon wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2020 10:53 amLots of Bassman love here. Can’t say I miss mine much. Some great amps in this thread! Another one I would like to own but haven't seen mentioned is the Mesa Mark II C++. It only does one sound (80s thrash), but it does it so well. That EHX MIG-50 reissue looks pretty cool too.
And an underrated pick no-one talks about that I absolutely love is the Selmer Treble and Bass 50 S.V.

God, it sounds so thick and grungy in this video. Kinda Bassman-esque actually. And it totally looks like a doom amp as well.
Another great video of the Selmer:

I had my dream amp, and sold it, have regretted it ever since...but we had just moved house and needed a new window and some carpets.

And now for something completely different:
Mine would be a small, solid state stereo power amp, 150W per side, with independent EQs. I use preamp pedals, all I really want is clean volume on a wire running into two identical cabinets.
Edit: Parts for this very thing came in today!

Re: What are y'all's dream amps?
I've had and let go of a couple. I wish I hadn't gotten rid of a Magnatone 410, a 63 Vibrolux, or a 64-5 Tremolux head w/a repro 210 piggyback cab.
I think if I could just magically wish to have anything, though, it'd be a tough call between a tweed Harvard (the Steve Cropper amp) and a legit AC10 Twin.

Blackface or Brownface Princeton with an old reverb unit. My beat up '79 SFPR is great though and better than I imagined I would own in terms of amps

I'm done lugging 100 lb Amps! I do have some great Amps but there is one I would like to find that would get a lot of use at home, in the Studio, Rehearsal, Jams & for Gigs..

When I was younger, I always lusted after a Bogner Shiva head, mostly due to As Cities Burn using them. Bad Cat Hot Cat head (100?) is another I lusted after for a while, though no longer. 1961 Vox AC30 like Dan from That Pedal Show has, which EL34's instead of EL84's, as it sounds SO damn good. Marshall JMP for a while too. Honestly, I'm happy with my tone, and don't really lust after any of the more expensive or vintage amps very much anymore.

Ampeg V4 for electric bass (and a gigging band, maybe with stage hands?
)
First edition Framus Solo for my feminine side as a guitar picker. I do have the Schaller version of its successor, but it was set into a cheesy "half stack" situation sometime. Surely better for tone and moddability.

Pop is the most wonderful music – as long as it's played with three basses, a string section, and two french horns going "Vroop-Vrooo".

Re: What are y'all's dream amps?
Is it wrong that I kinda already have them now somewhat? The Mark I is my live thing and I know how to make it do what I like. The '59 Bassman LTD chassis I turned into a head and re-transformed has the Marshall roar I hear in my head that I've not been able to find with an actual Marshall, and the Ampeg J-20 bats clean-up in its brown Deluxe kind of way. The 5E3 with all knobs at noon with a Jazzmaster is instant perfect rock rhythm guitar. I suppose the only thing I'm missing is a good Vox setup. I've had an AC10 and a Blue'd AC15 and didn't really get what I was wanting out of them. I've loved the heritage AC30 I played in an Austin studio in the early '10s and would love to have something that sounds more like that, because the AC10 and AC15 did not. It could also be my inability to dial in the Vox thing because the engineer chained up that AC30 with the Mark I and they complimented each other beautifully (though not for every song). So maybe put me down for a good Vox AC as my dream amp right now. But I would love some of the other higher powered tweed circuits too, like a Twin or Pro.

Re: What are y'all's dream amps?
Portability is an important dream amp quality for me for sure. Been loving my Swart AST for this. It’s very light and compact. I use the hard sided slipcover it came with, put it in the passenger’s seat and strap it down with the seatbelt. I can load everything in in one trip without breaking a sweat.Larsongs wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2020 8:57 pmI'm done lugging 100 lb Amps! I’m with you on the BF Deluxe. That’s my dream vintage Fender amp too.

Re: What are y'all's dream amps?
I have never been able to determine what my true dream amp would be. If I had the space, it might be one of these:

It just looks so cool to me.
I did have my dream amp custom made for me though. It's a BF deluxe head with no tremolo paired with a 2x10 cabinet.
I still wish I could play BF Super Reverbs and Ampeg VT 40s.

A Fender Twin Reverb was always my dream amp when I was younger but I'm perfectly happy with my Princeton Reverb.
