I maybe doing something really dumb.. but I cannot see for example that Tele Deluxe in that colour and I can't see a Cyclone at all on the Fender website.. Are they released in the US only perhaps (I'm in the UK)? Or am I missing something?

tele deluxes in seafoam and purple sparkle are FSR colors for europe, and you can find them on the websites of the big music store chain stores like baxshop, music store and andertons etc. the cyclone is part of the paranormal series and has been out for quite a while. it should be up on the fender site, but if they arent, check the same big store websites.

This is a beaut by the way! A Tele Deluxe is a guitar I have always really loved, but to buy an original is just way too far out for me, but the other reissues never really seemed to cut it - the more I think about it the more I think that a Squier is the way to go, and from what people are saying it really seems like the quality of Squiers has really gone up in recent years.. would love to know what you think about how it plays and sounds!

Re: Squier 2020 line
This is a good topic. I love Toronados, Cyclones and Starcasters. I'm glad to see them in the 2020 Squier line.
I must say though, I just purchased a new 2020 Jaguar and it was disappointing.
It looks great, the neck profile is super nice and it's a nice light weight. But I would not purchase one of these if you want it to be playable out if the box. The QC is terrible. I had to fix the nut slot, give it a fret level, roll the binding, and make adjustments to the truss rod, intonation and pickup height. Plus, it would not stay in tune for a minute, and it sounded terrible, although with the pickup height lowered it is drastically better than it was.
I think it will turn out to be a nice guitar once I'm done working on it. I'm buying better pickups and tuners which will be about $150 uninstalled, and on top of that it would be at least an additional $150-$200 if I wasn't doing all of the work myself.

Re: Squier 2020 line
I've heard that about the Jags specifically this year. Tried a CV Jag out about a year ago and was very impressed. I've been lusting after a Shell Pink one but am saving to move house and they're already out of stock everywhere in the UK. Will be interesting to see what FSR colours they have in 2021. I'm a bit wary about buying one online though given the QC issues but given that we're in a pandemic it might be the only way.WillyP wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 9:52 pmThis is a good topic. Re: Squier 2020 line

so i've been playing this for a couple of weeks now and i have to say it's pretty fun. as expected the stock 9s were completely useless, but 10s seem to keep it in tune pretty well and seem well suited to the scale length. that and the super strong tremolo springs .... you really have to reef on the whammy to get it to move -- at first i thought it came blocked up! i haven't had a guitar with a Strat-style trem for eons, so i don't really know what "good" is supposed to feel like. the present setup would not be called "graceful."
Pat commented that the Super Sonic almost seemed like a toy when he scouted them out, and it certainly does seem so next to the JM. this photo doesn't really convey the difference in scale you feel IRL, the Sonic seems much smaller esp. with the narrower nut ... still, it's cool and i can see putting some money into it for refinements.
the back story is, my cousin lopped off the tips of two fingers on his fretting hand a few months ago. they were reattached, but for a while it was unclear whether the "repair" was going to take ... it did, mostly, and now he's slowly working his way back to playing touch and dexterity as best he can. so we decided to celebrate his recovery by each buying a new guitar .... he picked up one of the Squier offset Teles, and i bought this. my periodic reports keep his spirits up, so i guess i'm keeping it

gotta be small when target times come / gotta be smart while acting dumb

Hey is that one of the Strat bridge covers for about $12 that Fender currently sells, and did it just slip on or did you have to bend its sides or use tape/magnets or something to get it to stay? That looks so cool...guessing you locked the bridge down and don't use the trem?

Use a solder iron on the inside corners. Makes bending it easy peasy for fine tuning the size you need
