The wonderful command line utility 'youtube-dl' is capable of this.

youtube-dl -x --audio-format mp3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uniqueyoutubeid

It can output to aac, vorbis, wav etc too.

I use a range of web-based downloaders that come and go (probably as youtube blocks them). Safer than EXEs - although they are mostly fronts for sites that want your to download their EXE to do the same job .. I never do. I always have a pile of such sites bookmarked, and switch between them if one disappears or doesn't work on a particular day. All do MP4 download, not all do MP3 (but there are convertors, incl Audacity). Occasionally a youtube channel seems to use youtube capabilities to block downloading of copyrighted material, but a few other things can get around that (eg Videodownload Helper add-on for Firefox).

I do not even use MP3, but I have a site that I have already downloaded for a few months in the Rind. If I want to listen to personal music in the car, every time I have to install the desktop and after putting it on the disk. I like them because I can install the theme without advertising, and the audio is high and without distortion. If you need http://rabbit-mp3.com, you might alone convince yourself. I assure you that you will not regret it. At least to all friends already said this site and all are satisfied.

I’ve used a few different YouTube to MP3 converters over the years, both online and desktop versions. Some web-based ones work great for a while but then get blocked, so I usually keep a couple of different sites bookmarked. When I need more control over the file format or quality, I prefer using a proper video converter instead of sketchy websites with tons of ads.

If you ever need to convert other video formats, like WTV files, into something more usable, there are some good options out there: https://www.movavi.com/video-converter/ ... verter.html. I’ve had success with this WTV converter for handling different formats easily.
