Color inspiration
I messed up a jazzmaster I painted. Not sure if I should do the same color or go in a different direction. Please give me some custom color inspiration

Re: Color inspiration
What colour's the pickguard?
You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

Re: Color inspiration
Purchased Black, but would easily go with mint, tort, or white if the gas was headed in that direction

Re: Color inspiration
I tend to prefer the mid to dark colours so my choices would be these...
All of them have a tinted clearcoat that yellows the original colour.
TOP - Lake Placid Blue
MIDDLE - Candy Apple Red
BOTTOM - Charcoal Frost
They're all actually metallic colours & the Candy Apple Red example looks to have faded a lot too.

I like almost every custom color for offsets. So many great choices! Here are my current ones:

This one isn't mine (and I can't remember who it belongs to here), but I'm thinking my next project is a Jazzmaster inspired by this one.

Re: Color inspiration
I love the look of aged paint the way CAR , Ice Blue Metallic, Pelham, and Sparkling Burgundy.... but it's very difficult to reproduce with a rattle can and a garage. Any anyone have any leads on one of these colors sort of aged in a can form?

This looks great. I looked in the Fender Custom Shop design guide and there's a Tele pictured in "Faded Firemist Silver" that looks very close to this.Tweedledee wrote: ↑Fri Jun 11, 2021 8:52 amThis one isn't mine (and I can't remember who it belongs to here), but I'm thinking my next project is a Jazzmaster inspired by this one.

Re: Color inspiration
Great call on aged Firemist Silver as a way to get close to this! I'm thinking of going with Hampstead Green Metallic as a way to get close without having to go the aged/faded route. It's an old Honda color that seems to be close enough to work. Plus I can get it in Dupli Color acrylic lacquer rattle cans.krossfader wrote: ↑Tue Jun 15, 2021 8:11 amThis looks great. Are you into the "proper" Fender colours or looking for something outside that?

I loved the look of that aged Firemist Silver JM ever since I first saw that pic awhile back......
I may check out that Duplicolor Honda colr availability.
I have a VM Jazzmaster in faded Sonic Blue that I might consider refinishing - great playing guitar but the color never wowed me. Or, maybe just pick up another body and PG or perhaps start a whole new project. Never done an offset build.

ALso, FYI - I did a Tele project a few years back and finished it with Duplicolor "Cayman Green" Looks really close to the lighter shades of Sherwood Green to my eye......
