I think I've sussed out the wiring. The strangles are good with just the 0.003uf in series, switching in and out. The dark switch switches in a 56k resistor into a 0.022uf cap to ground. Initial test seems positive

That's gonna look so great. Glad the '67 remained as-is in the end!

Thanks. To be honest, the pangs of guilt won out in the end but I'm still not ruling it out...if the 'Jag with WRHBs' sound ends up being the thing I truly want in life - and I find a set of vintage pickups - then the '67 will get it too.
But this will be the test bed.

So, I got bored waiting for Jaime @ Creamery and ordered up some of the new Fender CuNiFe humbuckers...

Re: Ice Blue JagBlaster - Completed
I just posted in the other thread, but realize I should have asked here - how does it sound??
Amazing work. I love the extra chrome on it, especially on this colour. One of the sharpest Jags I've ever seen, for sure.

Re: Ice Blue JagBlaster - Completed
It sounds pretty good! I need to spend a little time balancing out the pickup heights and polepieces as, in true Fender fashion, the neck pickup poles don't line up great as per the originals. But, on initial testing, it sounds really gritty and raucous and everything a 'blaster' implies. The independent cut switches are subtle but definitely tighten up any flubby bass with a fuzz or overdrive. I'm impressed with the Fender reissues...they have that lovely bell-like clarity that WRHBs are supposed to have.
It's my new favourite piece of hone furnishing at the moment. Just utter madness and a feast for the eyes.PorkyPrimeCut wrote: ↑Tue Oct 05, 2021 10:32 amFor the benefit of those who hadn't noticed...

Re: Ice Blue JagBlaster - Completed
This looks amazing! I'm just embarking on a Jagblaster project so it's great to see one of these at the end of the process.
How are the reissue Fender CuNiFes? I have some original 70s WRHBs in a Thinline tele, and a set of Creamerys which are earmarked for the Jazzblaster. I've not found any good reviews of them online yet, but they're spendy for new pickups.

Maybe it would be cool to use one of those switches as a phase switch? Seems like a "dark" switch is redundant when you have a tone pot.

Re: Ice Blue JagBlaster - Completed
There's a definite difference between the tone of rolling the tone pot a bit and the sound of a rhythm circuit being switched in as it's down to the nominal load of the components having an effect. If you roll down the tone on the neck pickup Vs switching in the rhythm circuit it's a distinctly different sound

What colour is it out of interest? I’m about to push the button on one of his guards for my fiesta red jag and his choices are overwhelming.
