Sorry, British colloquialism. What's the deal with that one? Year/run/etc?

We've probably all been staring at the same few on Reverb. I fell for them thanks to Brian Baker. I'd get a cheap-ish one but feel I'd be disappointed if it wasnt a real 50's one though - and they're strong money these days
I love Brian Baker! And of course, Bad Religion and Minor Threat etc! He's been playing some awesome 50s Jrs for the past few years for sure.
Gone are the days when they were affordable!
Yeah, I can't justify 10k on something like that really.
4K on something like this though...
...veeeerrry tempting
I have one of those, sans Bigsby, and while I'm not deluded about it stacking up with a real one, I surely don't regret what I paid for it.

Ahh, never run into that term before and I've long been rather fond of various british media, from Douglas Adams to Red Dwarf.
Anyway, it's a 2010 standard line Jr. Nothing fancy or custom shop about it. It does have the same finishing work as the faded line from around that time so it's not glossed out or anything. It came to me after it's previous owner toured with it quite a bit and after his dog attacked it, the headstock is a bit chewed up and gouged but the body wear is from the gigging days in Texas. I replaced the tuners with Gibson tulips as a slight (but welcome) upgrade from the oval tuners that were pretty much gone. The tulips were left over from a 2008-ish LP Faded that I upgraded to Grovers and traded off. I have everythingto upgrade the wiring in the Jr but it honestly sounds so good, I'm kinda worried to upgrade it

This one is an '09 and it's a beast. Thick and with shoulders to go with it.

Interestingly an Irish language phrase originally, spelled craic.

The definition of "epic setup" right there!!!
Haha! Thanks! I love both of those amps and they each sound good in their own way. But both together is a transcendental experience. The old MIJ HM-2 and Sovtek Big Muff are absolutely perfect for them.
Now count every rhododendron in this cool mountain light, I made more mistakes than that just tonight

Yeah, my grandmother (Scots Gaelic) also used to use it and spell it that way. Probably where I picked it up from originally.

There's weirdly a lot of crossover between Gaelic and the Irish language. I assume it's a proximity thing.

Yes, they both reside on the same branch of the old Celtic languages tree. Gaelic, Irish and Manx are part of the Goidelic branch and then you have Breton, Cornish & Welsh on the Brythonic branch. Brythonic is slightly older I believe - which would explain why it's more dead than the others

I grew up in Nantes, which is in a very debated zone between Brittany and the more "standard French" cultural zone, I still remember my very Parisian/central French parents getting dark looks when they asked why one could take a "dead language" course in Breton in the school I was

Breton is still alive and kicking in Brittany, but totally defunct now in Briton/Britain. Breton vastly outnumbers Irish regards native speakers, and Welsh. Manx and Cornish are the deadest of the dead.
I've often been tempted to learn some Breton. My original family surname is actually Brett on my father's side, and my Grandmother on my mother's side is originally from Brittany. Safe to say that's likely where my roots are!
