Re: Opinion on old Super Reverb
I don't think it's that bad of a price and wouldn't hesitate to buy it and swap out the speakers (after attempting to talk the seller down a couple hundred bucks which would help offset the cost).
For all those that talk about how much an amp is devalued by mods, or a different transformer, or different caps, or different speakers...my challenge is to find some of those worthless amps for me! If I could find a Super for around $500-600 that needs some work or was devalued with non-original parts I'd jump on it lightning quick but they simply don't exist. The same goes for any number of other vintage amps. Sure, I wouldn't pay top dollar for one with a swapped transformer but it doesn't reduce the value of the amp by half or more.
As for øøøøøøø's comments...well, again I find myself agreeing with most everything you have to say. Your posts are very frustrating for me because I don't have anything to argue about when I read them (arguing is my favorite pastime on the forums
). I can disclose the shocking truth that I like the new JJ6V6s better than the NOS RCA/Sylvanias I've tried though, for argument's sake !
