Re: what is my 4x12 now with even more unknown fane speaker'd cabs
oh, i forgot to give an update on the 2x12. both speakers need rebuilt. i'm gonna leave it for a bit because i got a few other projects going atm
edit. i also googled fane 4x12 and a marquis amp that looked pretty close came up. everything was the same as my 4x12 except the grille. i'm starting to think 70's amp makers were just taking the piss

I have just got this exact cab with an old marshall head, has everyone agreed that it's a Simms-Watts? Any way to find out a manufacture date?
Cheers

I love the idea of there having been a British Leyland for making guitar gear.s_mcsleazy wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 9:02 amedit. i also googled fane 4x12 and a marquis amp that looked pretty close came up. everything was the same as my 4x12 except the grille. i'm starting to think 70's amp makers were just taking the piss

If you like things breaking constantly and their electronics randomly releasing the 'magic smoke' (I'm looking at you, Lucas) then you'll be in luck

The British car industry was shamefully bad. Thankfully the British amplifier industry was a lot better.

This Fane-equipped cab is on FB marketplace at the moment...

Also, very similar to my old SW one, and Seans.

It's less that I think a BL amp industry would be A Good Thing, more that it tickles me. The thought of them repurposing old shelving units into cabinets, some lightbulbs instead of valves because they had them lying around and they look sort of the same. Wallpaper instead of tolex.johnnysomersett wrote: ↑Wed Mar 30, 2022 9:44 pmDitto.

Okay I don't know how to post photos here so here is a link to a few from the cab, 3 fane speakers and one Peavey branded squareback(eminence perhaps?)

Okay so you reckon it's a marquis? I want to sell it as I don't have the space, what would it be worth? Is it worth anything?s_mcsleazy wrote: ↑Sun May 08, 2022 6:24 amminus the big fucking hole on one side, it looks to be the same.MikeHero wrote: ↑Sun May 08, 2022 6:01 amOkay I don't know how to post photos here so here is a link to a few from the cab, 3 fane speakers and one Peavey branded squareback(eminence perhaps?)

Re: what is my 4x12 now with even more unknown fane speaker'd cabs
ok, all things considered. i think it's likely something similar to what drummers call "stencil kits" where they were sold under a lot of different names with small variations. i've now seen a few "similar" cabs come up locally over the last 18 months and because no one actually knows what they are, they usually go for cheap. my 4x12 was £50 or so. the 2x10 with dead speakers was £10 and a bottle of brewdog. i asked the dudes in my practice space how much they paid for the similar 1x15 bass cab they had and they said £15.
i think the "smart" way to sell something like this is to just say "unknown 70's cab with 3 fanes and one peavey. £50" and see if you get any bites.

Re: what is my 4x12 and my 2x12: WE FOUND IT
so browsing facebook market place and noticed these 2 for sale locally. we got a make for my 2x12

magnum.
the 4x12 is the same but with a different grille which makes me think it also might be a magnum or something like a stencil cab (sold without names and companies just put their own on it) also, here is the 4x12 with the granada badge

Bringing this one back from the dead as the plot thickens.
This cab popped up on Marktplaats a while ago:

It says Fender but the handles, jack plates, tolex, corners etc. all look the same as the no-name cab in the OP.
Only difference seems to be the size of the aluminium dustcaps.
Could this be a long lost brother? A DIY rebadge?
