I replaced my 250k pots on my Tele Deluxe with 1meg. Due to forces beyond my control (and not due to my inferior solderin' skills) one of the caps was rendered useless during removal.

My question: Is there a huge difference between .022 caps? The cap I pulled says .022k, 250h, but this has "genuine" Fender caps that say .022k, 250v. And then of course there's the Orange Drops about which I've heard much which are considerably cheaper.

I know very little about electronics, but I'm learning at an exponential rate. So please edify me further, amigos.

The voltage doesn't matter all that matters is the .022 value and the tolerance which should be 5%.

Also, hurry up and drop them 1megs in, Nolan. Holy Hindu Cow, my friend. I just got my Tele Deluxe together and tried 'em out. So worth the tinkerin'! It was a little annoying stuffing all them wires back in, but once i strung it up and plugged 'er in.... It's a good thing.

How do they sound? Does it clean up the sound quite a bit? Mine sounds way muddy, and I have to do some major amp EQ knob fiddling whenever I use it. If it doesn't help, I guess I'll have to invest in an EQ pedal or something. I really like the guitar, once it's dialed in.

To my ears it sounds just like people have been telling me. The pups really open up. There's still hella warmth, but more clear response. Ya know how the stock pots make it sound like you wish you could open up the tone knob more? (ie. the "mud") Well these, literally, do just that.

I'm sure you know the deal with HB's vs. single coils, how you'll always have to tweak a bit when trading between them on your rig. But with my rig now it's mostly just a volume adjustment.
