About 3 years ago I tried all the cheap hollow bodies in music stores I could find. I didn't buy anything, but I tried Epiphones, Ibanezes, Arias and a Gretsch.

I didn't think too much of the Epiphones or the Arias. I didn't like any of the Ibanezes except for the AS73. That one has great sustain and a really deep sound. The neck didn't feel too great, but the sound was incredible. My second favorite was a Gretsch Electromatic. I didn't like the pickups too much, it had DeArmonds, but it had good sustain. I don't know if the newer Gretsches are as good though, because I played the one with the tension bar on the Bigsby. The newer ones don't have the same Bigsby and I haven't tried the newer ones. My main problem with the guitars I didn't like was the lack of sustain.

The Edwards in the link is 1050. A little more and you can get a Gibson 335
Holy moly! Great point... I didn't even bother to look at the price on the Ebay link! :wtf:

Still post 'em up!
By the way. I didn't think about the price as most "cheap" hollowbodies in Norway are in the 500 - 1000 $.

Dont worry about it Theo, I was totally not paying attention when you mentioned the price.
Im willing to bend alittle bit, ..but, Id hate to spend more than $500. Hagstroms still look nice,
but.. Ill definitely be looking for some Edwards peices locally.

Thanks for the info Rickenmetal, Gretsch Electros look too "Brian Setzer" for me!  ;D

Either way, I havent bought anything yet.. Im still on the market!

I don't think they sell Edwards outside of Japan.

also hunt around for older Guild Starfires (either vintage ones or the ca. 2000 reissues).  Beautiful guitars and about half the price of their competition.  (still probably > 700 used)
