You're going to buy an Edwards Flying V (Made in Japan, by ESP) and have it refinished in purple sparkle.
Ah. I see you're a guy with refined tastes.

That headstock shape tho. If I recall, you have made your peace with the nub tip on Vs. I want it pointier!!!!

Fair enough. I've got two pointy ones and a snubby 70's style one. The rounded 70's style on the Edwards actually looks "right" to me, since the only small block inlay Vs were a limited number made in the 70's, so they had that headstock style.

That's a good (or snubby?) point (he says, as he looks at the ESP custom site and wonders just how much his idea will cost).
Also, it's good to note that they do not make their version of the Explorer with a similar neck. Makes not being an idiot (buying a set) eaiser.

But seriously, those MIJ Edwards Vs have binding and small blocks...my absolute ideal look.
I don't think Edwards are made in Japan. I think they're made in China under strict Japanese supervision.
Oh and btw my Greco V should be here next Thursday.
Edit , a quick Google search tells me im wrong and there are Japanese made Edwards. Maybe Grass Roots is MiC?

Here's a TV yellow Flying V! Up close you can see all the little brown streaks of the mahogany wood grain. It's supposed to be a '59 reissue or something, with a pretty fat round-back neck and a big shiny Gibson logo on the headstock. The Kluson tuners with plastic buttons help keep the headstock weight down. It came with some relatively low output custom humbuckers that sound nice and smooth, around 7.5-8.5k I think. The other unique spec on this one is a nylon nut. When I first saw it I though WTF is this cheesy plastic nut? But I guess it works fine and can't tell if it makes any difference in the sound.

All pain and troubles melted away like lemon drops beyond the contrails across the sky.

This is a fantastic High Performance Flying V that Gibson made before they went bankrupt. Probably the thinnest neck I've ever seen on a Gibson, and although it has the higher neck joint it also has a contoured heel. The fingerboard is grenadillo and despite not having binding, the fret slots aren't cut all the way through the edges of the fingerboard. It came with their titanium zero-fret nut, as well as a high quality locking aluminum tailpiece and bridge with titanium saddles. The pickups are Dirty Fingers+ with some weird open-top covers; up around 16k they're pretty harsh. It also has some stylish chrome knobs and pickup bezels, and an engraved aluminum truss rod cover. And of course it has the G-Force robo tuners, too.

All pain and troubles melted away like lemon drops beyond the contrails across the sky.

I did not know that hollow aluminum Flying Vs existed. Man, do I ever wish I could try that one! That's so awesome.

This is the white High Performance V which hasn't yellowed at all. I swapped the pickups for the Seymour Duncan Joe Bonamassa Amos set.

I like that look a lot more than the weird open humbucker frame on the black one. Nice and classic. With the white finish, I almost missed that it was the modern half guard and not the full '67 style one.
I'm curious about your TV Yellow one. What year is that from? I never knew they made one with those specs.

That would be fantastic. I already have a set of filtertrons in my T-Bird (same woods/scale length/bridge), otherwise I'd love to put them in a V. They flatter the T-bird so well, I have no doubt they'd be incredible in a V.
There's one of those aluminum Vs with a chrome finish on Reverb for a decent price, FYI. I'd honestly grab it and buy an aluminum neck for it if I wasn't committed to my current downsizing phase.

It's a 2018, I think there were a few different ones floating around that didn't all have the same specs, but I could be wrong.

Thanks! Really interesting alternative to wood certainly makes a bigger difference to the player than the listner.
