Both colors of the XII are on the way- local dealer had a 20% off sale going... ETA 'Late June' they say.
I'm actually pretty excited- this'll be my first 'new Squier' purchase- UNDER $400 each, and with a FREE setup from my regular guitar tech... I almost can't believe it.

These are showing as in stock online in Canada at Long and McQuade. Just ordered the LPB 12 string Jazzmaster.

20% off on a brand new model that hasn't even shown up, yet? How do I get that deal!?SignoftheDragon wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 7:08 amBoth colors of the XII are on the way- local dealer had a 20% off sale going... ETA 'Late June' they say.

I notice Andertons are showing £379 for the Xii and Rascal, £369 for the Stratosonic and Esquire now.
I had been interested in the Rascal, but after the Andertons review, the Esquire does sound very tempting

Re: Brand New Squier Paranormal 2023
I've mentioned before that I like these a lot. Squier has done a terrific job making very cool, price accessible instruments to get excited over. Build quality is legit, and the pickups and electronics are very functional, but also no-brainers for later modding.
Anyhow, just saw the Esquire model is built from OKUME!!! As a HUGE, HUGE fan of the mahogany type tone woods, this guitar practically just sold itself! Having the option to drop an authentic Fender CuNiFe WRHB is just ice cream on the cake.

Depending on the nut material & number of parts to the body, the poplar will be brighter. The okuome is famous for extra sustain, and with the maple neck it will still have a good amount of brightness. Alternatively you could buy a Mastery string tree for the poplar model and get that additional sweet sustain.
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

For those of you in the UK who preordered the XII with Andertons they have now reduced the price from £429 to £379
They offered to refund the difference after I got in touch

I saw Andertons and a few other stores went at the higher price initially.
I went with Peach Guitars. They were cheaper right from the start and usually do a once over on the guitars before shipping out.

Okoume is an interesting wood. It's got a similar density and hardness to pine, but looks, sounds and takes finish somewhat more like mahogany.
If you're into the lightweight pine Tele thing, you'll probably like it. It's becoming more and more popular across the price spectrum - Suhr makes their Les Pauls out of it, for example.

Re: Brand New Squier Paranormal 2023
Any idea if the upcoming Squier Jazzmaster XII will have a wider neck than the 6 string version?
I fear it will indeed, right? So they won't have same neck-pocket as a normal 6 str. Jazzmaster, right?
I was hoping I could get one of these new XII ones and swap necks with a Squier Jazzmaster VM that I have around.
A Jazzmaster without the vibrato plate (and no rhythm circuit) feels/looks much too naked for me.
I could lock the vibrato, but I do like having that extra 'dead' string section after the bridge.
Alternative is to start modding that new XII right away with a vibrato plate. Possibly one of those flat fixed ones, or a normal (but locked) vibrato tailpiece, but it'd be cool if necks could simply be swapped...
